I have been working at Grainger full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Great range of benefits, fantastic profit sharing, good work/life balance, leaders who care about professional development and growth, and plenty of opportunity to be part of high-value/high-impact work. Grainger has transformed significantly over the last 5 years, and there's a buzz of competitive energy that drives people to innovate and succeed. Really great place for people who like variety in their work!

    Cons

With the transformations taking place, leadership changes are fairly common. It's not a great environment for folks who require lots of direction and guidance.

    Advice to Management

Continue to focus on adopting and innovating with technology. Team members are the key to Grainger's success; appropriately invest in top performers and develop them further through stretch assignments. Continue working to connect teams, break down silos, create easy-to-use resources, and streamline processes.

I worked at Grainger full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Industry leader, good work-life balance, good people

    Cons

Can be very political. You can only get promoted if you're well connected, not based on your performance

I have been working at Grainger full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

General work life balance, profit sharing and benefits, contributions, etc. Great involvement with community affairs

    Cons

IT Sr. leadership waffles with vision and direction. typical "flavor of the week" processes. IT Sr leadership will protect buddies. Buddies get promoted into MGMT positions beyond their abilities. Too much action is taken without thorough analysis on the details of a problem\initiative.

    Advice to Management

actively run thorough analysis on people leaders. how are some perennial high achievers reviewed as poor performers in such a short time within a management change?

I worked at Grainger full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Great people. Corporate company that felt like family. Work life balance was good. As well as the benefits offered.

    Cons

Allowed decreasing stocks dictate the future of the company. Outsourced most of the Sourcing department to another country (and downsized many other departments) without realistic plan in place. Did give ample time to laid off employees to find other employment opportunities.

    Pros

Work/life balance is there and benefits provided are great!
