I have been working at Grambling State University full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Rich in history with employees, alumni, community and constituents who really love the Institution and want to see it thrive. New President with excellent potential.

    Cons

Accountability for all levels is lacking; tremendous lack of teamwork throughout the Institution with very little collaboration amongst departments. Overall opposition to change makes it hard for changes that would really make the University better to become reality. Too many people content to carry own with business as usual. Very low employee morale.

    Advice to Management

Show greater respect and genuine concern for employees. Incorporate true system of checks and balances. Work on improving "customer service" between departments and it will improve for external constituents.

I worked at Grambling State University (More than a year)

    Pros

Good family environment, no issues with salary/pay it is always on time, mostly friendly people and generally a good work environment

    Cons

consistent competition and alienation among academic depts, the university is mal-organised from top to bottom, there is an insistent aire of anti-intellectualism which undermines the mission of the institution, many people thoroughly unqualified particularly in the leadership/administration (dept chairs/coordinators, deans, vp's)

    Advice to Management

Go through each department and fire as many people as you can and rehire new people who're motivated to do their best
