I worked at Grand Strand Health (More than a year)

    Pros

Ability to function efficiently in the areas of triage, express care, behavioral health, trauma and general emergency room. Level I facility, 32 bed ER, 1:3-4 ratio,

    Cons

The acuity is high for the ratio, it was a contract job and I could not afford to sign on permanent with the facility.

    Advice to Management

Consider a higher rate of pay for permanent employees. This company is a great teaching facility that offers wonderful learning opportunities.

I have been working at Grand Strand Health (More than a year)

    Pros

Lots of Learning.. Being part of peoples lives in times of trauma.. Networking.. Location.. Overtime .. Fast paced... Mostly good co workers.. PTO...90% tuition reimbursement..new CEO will not be a stranger and will chat with you on the floor. A few administrators are The same way and friendly they have made some good changes.

    Cons

"Don't give raises based on performance" ... Attendance policy is insane. On 7 the absence in a year you are fired. Absences with doctors note from own e.r. after being seen still counts as absence point. No one is held accountable for laziness and no one is rewarded for hard work. Start from scratch on how e.r. runs and RNs having mandatory 4 12 hour shifts in all parts of hospital. RNs get big bonus pay for picking up shifts or working crisis days but no other support staff does.

    Advice to Management

You are loosing your best employees left and right in all departments. You are lowest paying but busiest hospital on area ! Value employees and their health as much as you value growth and numbers.

I worked at Grand Strand Health part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Plenty of available hours to pick up
    Great learning experience

    Cons

    Very fast paced
    Confusing regulations
All business, does NOT stand up for their employees

I have been working at Grand Strand Health full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Experience with diverse populations and high acuity.

    Cons

Staffing is horrendous. Always short staffed.

    Advice to Management

Stick to safe staffing ratios. Invest in a new documentation system. Hire CNAs and RNs that actually pull their weight and do the job they were hired to do instead of catering to "grandfathered" employees who sit in the break rooms all shift long.

    Disapproves of CEO

I worked at Grand Strand Health full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The benefits are really good, can not say that about anything else

    Cons

Lazy nurses, charge nurses only care about the nurses and could careless about the CNA's or other support staff. Nurses are rude and lack respect for CNA's. Not enough compensation for the amount of work a CNA has to do.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees more and do not automatically take sides based on someone having a higher job title.
