I have been working at Grand View Health full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great people, competitive salary, friendly, good patients. I started in October. In January I got an increase of salary right away. At other companies, I would have had to wait a year and 3 months to get a raise. There is room for advancement. Within 6 months I was promoted. For those that work hard, you will be rewarded.

    Cons

Hours can be bad based upon where you are working and you do have to work holidays, however, this comes with all jobs in healthcare.

I have been working at Grand View Health full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Employees opinions are respected and valued, work is valued and appreciated. Many advancement opportunities for those who seek them and work for them. Great heath benefits and generous time off.

    Cons

Not many cons to think of. To some the community hospital "feel" can be a con but to most it's a plus - it's a matter of perspective!

I worked at Grand View Health full-time

    Pros

    Co workers were the best!

    Cons

Management. Earned my ASN while working at GV. After graduation GV would not hire me as a Registered Nurse. So insulting. After 18+ years of working for them.

    Advice to Management

Stop playing favorites! Treat people the way you would want to be treated.

I have been working at Grand View Health full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Some of the people and they have decent eye insurance

    Cons

No advancement to other departments, HR department does not know anything about the jobs employees do there, HR department doesn't follow it's Attendance policy.

    Advice to Management

HR Dept is Clueless about what departments do, HR Dept doesn't follow it's Attendance policy. Administration needs to realize that there are other people/employees other than doctor's or nurses. Nothing boots morale more than seeing nursing being rewarded with pizza's or hamburgers for having to endure a busy time. That's right, I forgot, they're the ONLY ones busy! NOT! HR Dept and it's Recruitment Team really need to READ a person's resume especially if they're an employee and you would see that a person is QUALIFIED for the job they're applying for! No Advancement to other departments for non-clinical employees because you think they can only do the job they currently have and even that you have know idea what the job actually entails. Not being able to use Sick time when you're sick is stupid! The whole PAL/SICK time policy really needs to be revisited! It's no longer the 70's or 80's. Management, including the current CEO, really need to come down out of the ivory tower, whatever happened to the Tea with the Senior VP's and the CEO? It doesn't matter though because nothing is going to change. Just another employee who is unhappy and is hoping to get a job outside of GVH because nothing will ever change and I just can't take it anymore!

I have been working at Grand View Health full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Love working in a hospital. Most of the staff is very friendly. It is a good feeling being able to help people when they are at one of their lowest times.

    Cons

Management does not value staff. Staff to patient ratio gets a little to high at times and level of care is hard to maintain.

    Advice to Management

Pay your nursing assistants what they are really worth!

I worked at Grand View Health full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

It was a very challenging and fast paced learning environment. Great for a new graduate nurse as it is not a teaching hospital so there is plenty of time for the nurses to learn

    Cons

Small community hospital so after a while the challenges become less and you learn less day to day

    Advice to Management

Listen to the employees wants and needs they are the backbone of your success

    Pros

    A close drive to home.

    Cons

Need more engagement of upper management to feel our voices matter.

    Advice to Management

Upper Management/Human Resources are set in their ways. Never present on the hospital floors. Never hold Town Meetings. Would like to see more engagement.
And PAL time should be PTO time. Seasoned staff would like to be treated like adults rather than children having to be micro-managed. Listen to the chatter of your employees. Many are long term faithful employees.
