I have been working at Grand & Toy full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    - An iconic Canadian brand nearly 140 years in age. - Plenty of team members had long tenure - 25 - 40 years in many cases. - The company handles multiple lines of business in Indirect Spend categories, presenting opportunities for consolidation. - They are cited by Forrester Research as a market leader among online e-tailers; their e-com procurement platform has advanced enterprise features that make G&T clearly stand out from the competition. - Remote work is allowed often, a bonus for professionals with family commitments. - Healthy employee purchase program for almost anything on the G&T website

    Cons

Micromanaged BDMs here are not allowed to pursue their own strategies for success, despite lip-service to the contrary. In actual practice, the DSMs can be overbearing and demanding about how to manage each and every prospect, resulting in mixed messages being send to the market, and ultimately resulting in unrealized revenue as prospects choose to decline stepping onboard. Noticeably, turnover on the business development team is fairly high, nationally. Another example of lip-service is claiming to embrace the Challenger mentality, but in practice refusing to commit organizational resources in developing business & market insights which BDMs would then use in their pitches. The management strata here is fairly flat, which means almost little or no opportunities for upwards career mobility.

Enjoyed my time with G&T. Met a lot of wonderful people along my journey. Company continues to transition, constant change on requirements. Takes time to make decisions. There is a disconnect between the West & East making an awkward culture at times.

    Cons

Delivery Challenges, Lack of support from higher ups. Takes too long to get approvals.
