- "This results in a potentially good manager becoming more of a micro manager due to them feeling like they have to constantly keep tabs on their employees because they miss out on being with them in home office." (in 4 reviews)

Grange Insurance is a pretty cool place to work, just don't look to get promoted from within.
RecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Grange offers free parking in a garage. Great health/dental benefits. Onsite credit union Free fitness center (onsite) Casual feeling around the building
Cons
Grange has a 38.75 hour work week. Can not smoke on the grounds. Regular teleworking is not permitted even when it causes no strain on the business function.

Pros
There are still good people working here, with a lot of great ideas New and modern work facilities Parking is free Fitness center is great There are a few people who really care and want to make a difference
Cons
- IT and claims outsourcing continues even though management has said "it's not happening". Management is planning how to temporarily keep people until they can be replaced. They need to keep the current systems running until the people and systems can be outsourced - New IT management comes from major financial companies in Columbus with a very harsh and strict management style - You are insulted in front of your peers, new ideas are not welcome, everyone is very unhappy - Turn-over is a major problem, many are voluntary but most from layoffs and outsourcing - Talk on the street is "not a place to send someone who wants to make a difference". Most new recruits last about 1 year before they decide enough is enough

Pros
Grange invests in employees. Opportunities to showcase your talent and advance vary based on your department and manager. I am pleased with my position and my direct manager, but that is not the case for many at Grange. The company is solid and stability is a pro. Also, you are given the tools and resources needed to do your job. Ammenities like free parking, on-site fitness center and cafeteria add to the general benefits package.
Cons
After the recent reduction in force, maybe managers will be more consistent in this manner and hopefully ineffective managers were weeded out.

Pros
Benefits, on-site gym, on-site dining, garage parking provided by the employer, flexible
Cons
Typical corporate environment, opportunities for advancement if you're in the correct department/friends with the correct people, etc

- Current Employee★★★★★
Pros
Free parking and great location
Cons
Micromanagement, age discrimination, trying to get rid of pensioners, complete male management, very little women in leadership positions.

Pros
Location, garage parking, access to restaurants
Cons
Only speaking for the team I worked on. Conniving people who are nice to your face and then stab you in the back. Expectations are super low to begin with, so if you even send an email within the expected time you will be showered with praise. And then you will be stabbed in the back. The general opinion is people throw other people under the bus a lot during year end reviews, to save their own behinds. The work environment got super toxic towards the end.

Pros
The highest level of appreciation I've had professionally in my career. Management at every capacity in my tenure at Grange has continuously promoted professional growth. Management's confidence in your work product and promotion of self and professional growth pushes employees to achieve higher levels of education and various designations appropriate to their field. Generous paid time off. Casual dress code. Free parking & workout facility on site. Salary fairly in line with competitors.
Cons
Benefits could be better, but are fairly competitive. IT Help Desk is too scarce, that department needs more capable individuals. Wait time for assistance from currently Help Desk is unacceptable.

Pros
Gym on site, free parking in garage, great with charity work
Cons
Management is poor and out of touch. Training is practically nonexistent- bosses micromanage everything. Very volatile environment..assure us that there won’t be any more layoffs, then fire a number of people a few days later.

Great work - life balance, free covered parking, community involvement is abundant, on site lunch facility and coffee shop, casual business dress
