I have been working at Grant Thornton full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Grant Thornton is a diverse firm, and meeting new people within the firm has been one of the greatest highlights of my experience thus far. I have been proud to be a part of a family of employees who treat one another professionally, and are real, down to earth people who care about one another. Besides the new friendships I have made, I have gained a broad experience within the audit department. I have had the opportunity to audit companies across all industries and learned more than I thought possible within a short time span of 2 years.

    Cons

Busy season hours can vary on a per person basis, but that's to be expected at any public accounting firm, as clients don't all have the same fiscal year. Grant Thornton's culture and willingness to be flexible with it's employees allows for this inconsistency to be over looked.

    Advice to Management

Management should continue to lead their staff by example. Continue to be innovative, ahead of the competition, and keep up the integrity which is seen across the firm as a whole. I am proud to work for a firm with an amazing reputation. Keep this up, and there are no limits to where the firm will go in the future.

I have been working at Grant Thornton (Less than a year)

    Pros

Encouraging environment, opportunities for career and professional growth, exposure to many moving parts of the audit, treated as a fulltime associate, Partner shadow day, buddy/coach/mentor program, community service involvement, approachable management

    Cons

    No overtime experience, delayed feedback

    Advice to Management

Stress to seniors and coaches to give informal feedback on a more frequent regular basis. It's hard to perform and progress when you aren't sure on how you are doing.

I have been working at Grant Thornton full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Very modern office, extremely laid back people, and management is seriously committed to open communication. I thought all their talk about their culture was just marketing. The pay isn't as high as the most prestigious firms (although GT's brand name is growing) but not cringing whenever I go to work is very valuable to me.

    Cons

So far I haven't seen any real cons but I'm still pretty new. The 21st century office space is a little new to me eg no one has a permanent desk so it's confusing at first but it's just a bit of a learning curve.

    Advice to Management

Stay committed to the changes you've made.

    Pros

Unlimited FTO as long as you meet your required work hours. GT has a good work environment and good mentoring.

    Cons

Some areas don't have much experienced seniors so other seniors have to take multiple jobs. Clients are messy and audit fees are low.

    Advice to Management

Higher audit fees and more flexible budget
