I have been working at Granular full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Moving to recent technologies. Lots of smart people in leadership and other groups but the cliquish behaviour(see cons) is worrying. There’s huge potential for growth in the industry and for individuals who can work beyond the Cons. SF Office atmosphere is great. Most of the sf crowd is less than 1.5 years at work. Well stocked kitchen and 3 times a week catered lunches. Front office, sf Office and facilities are great.

    Cons

Too much tech Debt and poor architecture and shifting priorities stems from moving faster. Power play at work. Iowa is the center of engineering now. It’s a bit cliquish especially in leadership circles - decisions made with ‘you scratch my back, I’ll scratch yours’ attitude. Leaders who have access to Senior leadership, go behind backs of peers creating an ‘always be alert’ environment. Well meant projects have been canned without much accountability. Compensation is not very competitive in the Bay Area. Benefits are okay and there are no stock options/ESPP. Not a startup. Company is becoming very corporate like - a lot of structure, reviews in place. Understandable given product and engineering team is upwards of 250. It’s a BIG company now.

    Advice to Management

Be conscious of the cliquish behaviour. It is very demotivating. For faster results and playing in the Bay Area, be a true startup in spirit and action. Especially if playing in a very competitive market. Establish clear, career paths. And please pay competitively.

I have been working at Granular full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Learned a ton in my first few months: - creating database migrations - writing API endpoints with Flask - creating and setting permissions on AWS resources with Terraform and Cloudformation - random bits about remotely sensed imagery, like the difference between pixel interleaved and band interleaved data

    Cons

Coordination between offices can be a challenge

I have been working at Granular full-time for less than a year

    Pros

The compensation package, free food, snacks, about to expand the corporate office, CEO is great, health package and unlimited vacation.

    Cons

Office space is click-ish, no real community, alcohol selection needs Stella -lol, too many animals/playing with them and not enough working. (Do they care who is allergic?)

    Advice to Management

Not really just continue to grow, learn and make Granular better.

I have been working at Granular full-time for less than a year

    Pros

The people here are fantastic. Every one of them is enthusiastic, talented, and fun to work with and be around. Decision making in the company is fairly out-in-the-open, so, unlike some other places I've worked, when orders come down from the upper ranks, the reasoning behind them is clear. Working schedules are relaxed, and all the other perks (free food, etc.) are there.

    Cons

Granular is experiencing some growing pains and some integration difficulties after being acquired. These are quickly getting better, though, and are currently a major focus of the company.

I have been working at Granular full-time for less than a year

    Pros

In my experience, Granular gives you the tools to be successful in your position. It's great to be a part of the company's mission to contribute to farmers' success. The staff is intelligent and experienced which keeps the standards high. It's nice being able to count on coworkers who have strong work ethic. At the same time, everyone is very helpful and friendly. The work environment fosters a collaborative environment. Catered lunches and a full kitchen encourages socialization/ interaction. The office is even dog-friendly!

    Cons

The most challenging aspect is navigating through some of the systems during on-boarding.

    Advice to Management

Please keep the wonderful work environment and high standards in hiring.
