I worked at Gray Television full-time for more than 2 years

    Pros

    Literally none. There were none.

    Cons

They worked producers to death. Literally 55 hours a week, every week, without overtime pay. We never took lunch, comp days, holidays, vacation days, etc. because there was too much work. Anchors were total divas. Worse than a sweatshop.

    Advice to Management

    Treat your producers like humans.

I have been working at Gray Television full-time

    Pros

They are willing to offer you an opportunity without much experience, which can some times be hard to come by starting out.

    Cons

They will not invest in your growth. If you want to eventually earn a decent living, the truth of the matter is you have you find it elsewhere. On top of that, there's no real vision for the newsroom and people are generally discouraged.

    Advice to Management

You may be able to find people who will take lower salaries, but after a while you can't sustain a revolving door. Someone has to have experience in the market and that means you have to make an honest attempt to retain them -- and that goes beyond your top on-air talent.
