I have been working at Gray Television full-time for more than 6 years

      Pros

      Very few pros, if any.

      Cons

Terrible pay Sub-par benefits Very little paid time off Out-of-touch local and corporate management

      Advice to Management

Pay employees what they’re worth because they make Gray exist. Pay part-time employees holiday pay; I shouldn’t have to make those poor part-timers who are already given table scraps work on Thanksgiving and Christmas for *no extra pay.* Stop putting people on a totem - remember that the rest of the company’s operations depend on the foundation of that totem.

I have been working at Gray Television full-time for more than 20 years

      Pros

      Free parking, 401k, new carpet

      Cons

Low pay, poor management, management has no concept of employees jobs, no raises, overworked, not enough people working (cut backs), no advancements. Hire people who don't have experience and they expect others to carry their weight.

      Advice to Management

      Treat people equally and fairly.

I worked at Gray Television full-time for more than 2 years

        Pros

The local people are passionate and hardworking. And Gray takes full advantage of that.

        Cons

I went through a merger to Gray. It was handled terribly. Everyone lost time off they were promised they wouldn't lose. 0 clear answers for months. "HR" consisted of a generic email address. Paid hourly, yet expected to check email and find stories off the clock. If you tried to report time you worked from home (no physical time clock) you would get in trouble. My time cards were modified multiple times by corporate...

        Advice to Management

Stop having 1 or 2 managers in a market be the "gatekeepers" to corporate. Create a hierarchy that helps support and connect employees from all markets. Gas lighting is a real thing. Trying to make your employees doubt their own memory/sanity is not okay. If you work for Gray, document EVERY promise made to you. It will help you keep your sanity later. Also, stop asking for a college degree if you pay $10/hr.

I worked at Gray Television full-time for more than 2 years

            Pros

Gray-owned KNOP (North Platte, 209) is in a friendly and forgiving market. With a high turnover rate, new MMJs are quickly able to move into anchoring and producing roles. The studio is clean, relatively modern and looks good on air, considering market size. Several longtime personalities help provide good insight on the news industry and the North Platte newsroom is often conducive to developing new skills.

            Cons

KNOP is one of several Gray-owned stations in a network across Nebraska, so much of KNOP’s management is in Lincoln (over three hours away from North Platte). Management seems out of touch and apathetic toward employees at KNOP. Over recent years, many positions at the station were eliminated, increasing the workload for remaining employees. Management seems to abuse the employees’ willingness to assume these added responsibilities...

I have been working at Gray Television full-time for more than 20 years

            Pros

Our previous owners were great, caring and genuine. Old broadcasters with class

            Cons

After hearing the new CEO at last management conference. I can't believe we are owned by this man. The old days of genuine and caring will fall to the waste side with new owner. The vision of the company is fueled by narcissism and desire to inflate thyself. The debt ratios are alarming and they keep buying
