I worked at Gray Television full-time for more than 2 years

    Pros

Higher level managers got paid their worth --- KIND OF. There were bonuses for extreme effort. Work life balance for management was fine. For staff -- nope.

    Cons

A disaster of a company top to bottom. There is zero attempt to give anything extra to staffers who excelled. Hiring managers were forced to give egregiously low raises and then we had to sit in front of employees looking like fools. If a person is making 10 bucks an hour -- and I say he/she deserves 15 bucks an hour -- there is NO WAY that would ever fly. In fact -- if I wanted to up it by a SINGLE DOLLAR -- no. WHY?...

I worked at Gray Television full-time for more than 6 years

    Pros

There are some really good, passionate and fun people that you'll work with. The events on the side are fun as well.

    Cons

No training, low pay, low or no bonuses, poor and expensive benefits, long hours (24/7 on call). The worst was the management. If you enjoy being screamed at in front of your coworkers, this is the place for you. Tech upgrades were few and far between and usually just hacked together by the engineers.

    Advice to Management

Actually treat your employees with some respect. Reward them for hard work.

    Pros

A good company that is becoming great! They have greatly improved their employee benefits recently and analysts have Gray TV as the top station group of 2015.

    Cons

Long hours if you want to get ahead and move up but it's that way with any job

    Advice to Management

Keep the improvements coming and keep buying #1/#2 stations in new markets!

I worked at Gray Television full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Fast paced work environment. Tons of experience; writing, editing, producing, and on camera.

    Cons

Long hours, you often work over-time but your are not allowed to take overtime pay. Low salary.

    Advice to Management

Increase salary and allow reporters to get paid for the overtime that is often required to re-write stories for multiple shows as well as the web.

I worked at Gray Television full-time for more than 2 years

    Pros

I was a reporter at one of Gray's entry-level, small stations. Once you get benefits after the first 90 days they are amazing. The management at my station was very smart and supportive. Good company culture.

    Cons

Low pay. Long hours. Working holidays. One-man-banding all my stories. But that's media nowadays.

    Advice to Management

Stop updating the editing systems every year and hire some photogs.
