I worked at Great Wolf Resorts part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

You get 4 free waterpark passes to use for you, friends, and family. You also get discounted rooms when available. I met a lot of amazing friends here so the coworkers are a plus.

    Cons

Very bad pay for what the job was. I think they might have raised it now but I got paid $7.75 for months, then $8.00 when I became a certified lifeguard. Supervisors pick favorites and if you anger them, they make the lifeguards do unnecessary things. Hours are very long and breaks are very short. Also, guests can be very, very rude at times. The air is heavily chlorinated and I couldn't stop coughing for months.

    Advice to Management

Treat everyone equally, don't play favorites. Give longer breaks. 30 minutes out of a 8 hour shift is not nearly enough time.

    Pros

At Great Wolf Lodge, you meet a lot of great people and form real good relationships with your coworkers and this makes it a really fun job sometimes. Besides this, the guests that you are able to interact with daily are also very friendly and for me, the personal interaction between customers and the employee makes my job worth it. I love the feeling when you know that you're the one responsible that put a smile on the guests' faces and made their stay just the extra bit better.

    Cons

Although Great Wolf is a good job in many aspects, it has its negatives. First of all, at least at the one that I work at in Mason we are extremely understaffed and can not seem to hold employees longer then just a couple months. This makes a lot of shifts very stressful and makes people question if working so hard for minimum wage is worth it; which sometimes it does not feel like it is. In combination with this, the scheduling is pretty bad. Because my location is so shortstaffed, if you need someone to cover for your shift because of a conflict or whatever it is basically impossible. I'm not saying I dislike this job, I'm just saying for anyone interested in applying - know what you're going to be getting your self involved in. There are a lot of fun moments but it can also be stressful and will consume all of your time if you let it.

    Pros

There is always a lot going on so time flies quickly. You can make good sales commission if you know what you're doing.

    Cons

The company has absolutely zero standards as to who they will employ. Forty minute check-ins and complete incompetence are, apparently, acceptable.

    Advice to Management

    Cut the dead weight.

I worked at Great Wolf Resorts (More than a year)

    Pros

Plenty of Hours available to employees. There are plenty of employee benefits including discounted rates at the hotel such as food and room rates.

    Cons

In water park many of the employees were very young and not properly vetted for the task at hand. So many employees were let go shortly after hiring and this is because of low pay.

    Advice to Management

Raise the pay grade in the water park if you want to get employees that actually care about their jobs. Eight dollars an hour to save lives is disrespectful.
