    Pros

Industry leader, progressive strategies, client focused, solutions-driven marketing organization

    Cons

Company showed favoritism to markets such as Detroit, Boston, and Philadelphia

    Advice to Management

Hit your numbers. It is all about achieving monthly and quarterly top-line and cash flow budgets

I worked at Greater Media full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Left alone to do my work. Allowed to use my creative attitude!

    Cons

Clicky groups. I won awards for them as soon as I started. They laid me off for corporate restructuring. Really? The one who did all that you asked? The one who could fill any position at the station?

    Advice to Management

Get to know the "real" people who work for you. Don't just accept the mask they wear when they greet you.

I worked at Greater Media full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great stations, was privately owned, pay was traditionally better. Kind of like a country club when it came to actual hours being worked. Sales people are good but don't work hard enough. It's become the culture.

    Cons

Bad upper management. The hiring of upper management was always a back door process. Usually people on the back 9 of their career who were mostly cast offs.

    Advice to Management

Empower people to do their job. You have good people.

I have been working at Greater Media part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

As a member of the street team I had ample opportunity to expand myself in the company and get to know everyone around the office. The work was simple and fun, talking to people and setting up sound equipment is way better than other part time work. 10 an hour was a fair wage and there is enough work to make decent money.

    Cons

Office politics are everywhere and some of the members can be hard to work with, but that is the exception not the rule and overall the hardest part of the job is parking the Van.

  6. "Lots of better sales jobs out there"

I worked at Greater Media (Less than a year)

    Pros

Fun people, and the promotions can be fun. Meeting the radio personalities can be cool.

    Cons

The salespeople that have been there for decades have all the agencies and bigger accounts. Extremely high turnover, low pay. All cold calling and working in a dying industry. Lots of favoritism

    Advice to Management

You have to give new people a reason to stay. The economy is strong now, there are lots of sales jobs available in stronger industries, with better compensation and more opportunities.

    Positive Outlook

I worked at Greater Media (More than 10 years)

    Pros

At the time, was a good community newspaper. We were the major source of news for many communities.

    Cons

Very low pay. Editors often editing two or three newspapers, so quality is lost. Editors and reporters often knew little about the towns they covered.

    Advice to Management

Find reporters who know the community. Get rid of deadwood editors, and don't let any editor handle more than 2 papers.
