    Pros

Leading debit card issuer in US; earns a sustainable return in a saturated market.

    Cons

Erratic leadership; founder does not trust his executive team to know their business, thinks he knows it better and micromanages the smallest decisions. Founder turns over experienced executives regularly and retains "trusted" friends who would not last three months in a professional organization. When regulators or investors look closely at recent reckless decisions, expect a reckoning to occur.

    Advice to Management

    Harvest Capital got it right.

    Pros

There are very few ... The people are great at the lower levels. Solid skill sets with great personalities.

    Cons

I don't know where to begin ... The culture is toxic. The leaders are inept. You will never execute on something new here. You will simply band-aid old infrastructure. You will not innovate, you will stagnate.

    Advice to Management

Listen to Harvest and fire yourselves...

I worked at Green Dot full-time

    Pros

Solid, smart, caring people in the mid to lower level of the organization which are pleasure to work with.

    Cons

Employees are frustrated at constant changes coming from the CEO. Company launches products with little more than a gut feeling and quickly changes priorities based on CEO's whims.

    Advice to Management

Listen to the solid team below you and learn to take criticism.

I worked at Green Dot full-time

    Pros

None. Departments are siloed and protect their own interests at the peril of everyone else. Huge crabs in a bucket mentality permeates the company.

    Cons

Zero leadership from the top down. Company "culture" is a facade hiding everyone's discontent. Sarcastic "Have a great Green Dot day" is everyones inside joke. Company all hands had gameshow feel. Very theatrical, superficial and forced.

    Advice to Management

Company needs to sell and the current executive leadership replaced. Company desperately needs new leadership, new ideas and an actual defined purpose needs to be developed, communicated and executed.

    Pros

The "commoners" the people that you work with on a daily basis are good people, good workers, try their hardest and genuinely care.

    Cons

ALL "C" level managers have a contemptuous neglect & disrespect for anyone and anything other than making the stock/RSU, bonus better - - NO MATTER WHAT, no matter the affect on humans "commoners" who work their. No wonder people from all levels within the organization left the company.

    Pros

Very few managers are good at making employees responsible to the job they are performing. Good benefits, ESPP, 401K match, Health Benefits

    Cons

Management is of old style within QA Department, not much encouragement, no information shared with team, more like lick your boss attitude. Career growth is way too slow

    Advice to Management

come out of short term goals

I have been working at Green Dot full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Most areas have strong culture and team work, tech company atmosphere, good people all around

    Cons

A few mercurial people make life difficult, and our implementation of Agile needs some work - we actually have more process than we did using waterfall. Using a non-standard job classification structure limits employees marketability.

    Advice to Management

Consider more pro-active approaches to our legacy systems - waiting for them to break under load is the most expensive way to fix them.
