I have been working at Green Mountain Power full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great People to work with. Always enjoyed going to work in the morning to meet a new challenge. Good benefits and opportunity for overtime is always there.

    Cons

winters can be a challenge but the good days out way the bad days for sure. The cost of living in Vermont is high and the salary is lower compared to our neighbors in New York.

    Advice to Management

Honesty is still the best policy. Stay competitive with other utilities nearby and you will attract a good workforce that will like the work and people.

I worked at Green Mountain Power full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Acquisition of CVPS created opportunities for some and closed doors for others. Some interesting new business incubation going on

    Cons

Not a company for the person who is looking for the status quo or long time stability in one position
a bit techy and expects that employees will be on and respond almost 24/7

I have been working at Green Mountain Power as a contractor

    Pros

At GMP there is a focus on getting the right things done right. There is minimal BS. Supervision is focused on coaching, not micro-management. Meetings get right to the point. Everyone, top to bottom, holds themselves accountable. You will not find many "energy-vampire" co-workers here.

    Cons

You're "on" all the time. You have to be prepared to accept feedback and be open about your screw-ups and lessons learned. This environment is definitely not for everyone.

I worked at Green Mountain Power full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Quality people trying to do a good job.

    Cons

Executives always trying to find new ways not to pay people. They either take away annual bonus, not give any cash incentives, or fail to give raise. HR works hard to keep people under paid and don't care so long as there isn't a mass exodus.

    Advice to Management

Too much to point out needs correction. Stay away!
