Hard to advance up past the plant level

    Advice to Management

Seek and build grain buyers from within.

I have been working at Green Plains full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

There is room to move up, and a promote from within atmosphere. Competitive benefit package, and annual raises. They will spend money to send you to training and industry classes.

    Cons

Could do a better job on the hourly pay rate. Merit raises would help keep the good people around. A lot of the decision making comes down from corporate with no regard for specific plant needs.

    Advice to Management

Better communication from the top down would take care a lot of the issues. Do whatever you can to retain the good employees. To much one size fits all approach from corporate management.

    Pros

Pay is decent for the work you do most of the time. Other times it's not near enough due to stress levels.

    Cons

Schedule is terrible. Can be very stressful at times. When things are good management gets the credit, when things are bad it's all your fault.

    Advice to Management

Take the time for preventative maintenance to make plant run more efficient.

I have been working at Green Plains full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Management is tremendous here, really a positive work place and it brings out a pretty special team atmosphere

    Cons

Swing shifts obviously aren't great and I think the pay is a little below average compared to other plants.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the good work! It would be nice to have more structured training when moving from position to position.

I worked at Green Plains full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Its like work without rest-- 6am to 8 pm, if you can not then out
    did not feel challenged

    Cons

Bad company to work if you are honest, married and have kids. especially if you are woman.

    Advice to Management

Management should be aware of the future of the company. not good. Management does not respect talent rather any one can work with no work ethic. Management only care about how to make money

    Pros

Growing company, excellent boss! The company is growing and offers potential for advancement and learning new areas. Treats employees GREAT with breakfast on Fridays, drawings for great seats to concerts and other events.

    Cons

Can be very busy with not much backup to help with workload as others are as busy. The lazy non workers don't seem to get noticed by upper management.

    Advice to Management

Pay attention to people who really don't work that hard or sabotage others because they want to "look good" to upper management.

I have been working at Green Plains full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Seem to have plenty of Revenue, especially at the corporate level

    Cons

Low pay in comparison to other like companies in the industry, seem to put all emphasis at the corporate level and ignores the rest of the employees outside of that circle. Very concerned with putting out a "Big Shot" image of the company with corporate glamorization and totally ignoring Non corporate employees

    Advice to Management

You cant ask 110% from your non corporate employees and then turn around and give back 1% in return, only willing to give the very least you can get by with.
