I worked at Greenbrier (More than a year)

    Pros

The only Positive thing about working at Greenbrier is that the office space was nice.

    Cons

Aside from the nice corporate office environment, Greenbrier is a confused and hostile work environment. Employees are encouraged NOT to help each other, and the level of petty politics that sustains the environment is insane -- people would rather set you up to fail and point it out in public than take the time to show you how to do something properly. The Management staff is nearly a joke: afraid of new technology, and don't know how to effectively manage. The tools given are sub-standard, and people rise to positions through favors and brown-nosing as opposed to good solid work. More credit is given to people who show up drunk or stoned (if they show up at all) than to a hard working contractor... one person was constantly falling asleep in the bathroom. The people who are supposed to be directing the company are nothing more than a group of self-serving jackals with one foot in the grave, spending profits on self-aggrandizing things. I am sure that if any investigation was done, some severe fines or prison time would be in order.

    Advice to Management

Realize that you are ineffective and resign. Let people who can/will care about the company and employees run the place. Clean out all of the dead weight there.

I worked at Greenbrier full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great benefits and good location on the west side if you are not one of those millennials that all gravitate towards downtown. Somewhat laid back - it could be a minus if you are the person that wants to get stuff done.

    Cons

Feels like the executive staff made of old boys' club. Executive staff tend to be somewhat snooty.

    I worked at Greenbrier full-time

    Pros

Some pretty tough guys working in production. Once you get to know them, they are great guys and work pretty hard for their money! CEO is a good guy and is trying to do the right thing.

    Cons

Middle management always coming down with "do it or else" type of commands. Seems that those in that management roll simply want to will their way to success, but don't offer up much in the way of coaching or planning to complete a project all they say is 'get it done'. Then if the results are poor they blame you, but will take credit if everything goes well.

    Advice to Management

Empower your employees more. Give them a facility to be proud of. Make sure they have all the tools to complete the job and I mean that figuratively. Tools as in communication, training, lunch and shower facilities...
