I have been working at Greensville County Public Schools full-time

    Pros

The elementary and middle schools are housed in nice, newer buildings. Some of the students are sweet.

    Cons

Administration is a joke. Very few educators actually care about the well being of the students. Most parents are uninvolved and uninterested in their child's education. When they are interested, it is to complain that the teachers do not provide everything for their child such as diapers, clothes, supplies, etc to that they discipline their child with missing recess, time outs, etc. Certain employees practice outside of the scope of practice set by their governing organization. The lack of education, values, and work ethic shown by the majority of the population who live within the district is appalling. All the administration care about is gaining funding and all the parents care about is receiving social security checks for their "disabled" children. Very few students receive any form of discipline at home. Discipline at school depends on who the child is and who they are related to. If the administrator does not care for the child's family, that child will be suspended for anything. If they are friends or family, the child can call a bomb threat and only receive a day of ISS. It is sad to think about these students growing up to perpetuate the stereotype that their parents and grandparents have created for themselves. Don't expect the school to provide you with any supplies or support. The special education department fails to complete the processes with the legal time frame. Do yourself a favor and work in a school where education is valued.

    Advice to Management

Change everything about your policies if you want to actually improve the lives of the students.
