I have been working at Greyhound full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

This use to be an excellent company! Greyhound is trying to keep current technology, yet so many obstacles are delaying these projects from taking off.

    Cons

Company's decision to downsize departments has overloaded current positions. Corporation hires on who you know not what you know.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees involved in the daily operation and purchase new equipment.

I have been working at Greyhound full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

It's an OK job if you have no family or reason to go home.

    Cons

It takes years to get a route and stability in pay and home life. 10+ years. And management is a joke. They are under so much pressure and they heap that onto tired homesick drivers

    Advice to Management

    Calm down.

I have been working at Greyhound as a contractor (More than a year)

    Pros

Getting your foot in the door working within a transportation company.
Employees gave the highest praise for your work as long as you are doing your job.

    Cons

After a year of working, the terminal I'm in is no longer supported by Greyhound and was taken over by a contractor. Lack of management and benefits. Drivers stop being helpful towards baggage handlers. Disorganization since the contractor took over. Schedules are randomly made each week. This isn't the same Greyhound I worked after a full year.

    Advice to Management

Please stop cutting terminals and discipline your drivers.

I have been working at Greyhound part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

free travel, meet new people, 401k

    Cons

management is coercive....micro-managers that intimidate staff. horrible building, either too hot or too cold outside for platform agents, small terminal with poor ventilation;foul odor present often. food court is connected to men's restroom.. security staff are unaired.1 armed police officer present. lots of panhandling and crime

    Advice to Management

do your job and manage the company. let the hourly staff do their jobs and go home stress free...realize what kind of customers youre dealing with and accept it.

I have been working at Greyhound full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Looks great on your resume, awesome opportunity to build skills if coming in entry level, some departments value and invest in employees

    Cons

Poor customer service regard, lower than average salaries due to poor financial performance, archaic and antiquated systems, some departments treat employees like garbage

    Advice to Management

Stop spending the money on annual employee surveys if you're not going to take action on the results. Employ best practices across all departments when one department has high satisfaction rates but another has super low rates.

I worked at Greyhound (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Incredibly lax attitudes, great coworkers

    Cons

Perfectly comfortable with massive, nationwide layoffs at a moments notice.

    Advice to Management

Try your hardest to not layoff an entire workforce.

I worked at Greyhound full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Greyhound has pretty good benefits, and good hours if you can get into it and they allow you to meet great friends you'll have for life. Greyhound also has some fantastic managers, and awesome
    Employees.

    Cons

If you have a wife, girlfriend, or you have problems being away from family this job isn't for you. You can be gone for months at a time with no return home and our safety doesn't matter. They will call you at 3am if they need you, and your on call ALL the time.

    Advice to Management

Get set days off as you do vacations and make sure you explain the job before hiring better.

    Pros

Unlimited hours, traveling, get opportunity to meet new people. Starting pay is pretty great 19.00. Overall this job is for a person how who wouldn't mind being away from home 3 to 4 nights.

    Cons

On call every nine hours. Long wait for permanent run years wait at most cities. If you have kids, this probably wouldn't work. Just my opinion.

    Advice to Management

This job is based more on the driver. You have the power to pick and choose your fate depending on the situation. Bonus wouldn't hurt once in a while. Quarterly, yearly something.
