    Office Politics and Insecure Managers

    Pros

Perks are the company outings, year end bonus

    Cons

Office politics makes it impossible to advance in your career here, no matter how great of a worker you may be, “Crab in a barrel syndrome' especially if you're not one of the 'legacy employees' or someone’s friend. These office politics also causes upper management to turn a blind eye to the mistreatment of employees. Management have free reign when it comes to their employees, which causes employees to be subjected to unfair treatment, harassment, bullying, etc. The Human Resource Department has taken the 'Human' out of it. They do not take employee complaints seriously, only find ways to dismiss them and not hold the offenders accountable.

    Overworks Employees

    Pros

Decent pay for the industry Decent Benefits

    Cons

Overworked. Poor communication from upper management which can result in limited resources often causing you to have to spend your own money and wait months for reimbursement. It’s also a very “sink or swim” mindset as upper management spends little to no time training. You’re thrown into it and have only the resources on the portal to use, which are great if you’re even given the time to review them.

    Pros

Great Pay, Great insurance plans, 401 K plans available

    Cons

Upper Management doesn't understand the day to day operations and they are ALL so unapproachable. So disconnected. Deadlines are unattainable especially when short staffed. which is daily. No praise for hard work and trying hard. Horrible RPM's.Thank goodness one of them is GONE!!

    Greystar Review

May 29, 2018 - Leasing Consultant in Atlanta, GA

    Pros

Excellent compensation and growth potential if you simply do your job and do it to the best of your ability. Most of Greystar likes to promote growth from within but that has been changing over the past few years. Upper management does a really great job of providing compensation incentives for front line employees and making them feel appreciated through company activities and awards.

    Cons

A lot of upper management is unapproachable and does not take into consideration the perspectives of lower management. There seems to be a fairly large blind spot between the properties and upper management because often they do not inquire enough about what is going on from the front line. This has been changing though with recent management changes so hopefully it will continue.

It got me the needed experience to get out of there.

    Pros

The benefits package was great. That's about it.

    Cons

I hated working for Greystar. Upper management is unresponsive always to any concerns both lower level employees have as well as residents. It's all about numbers, numbers, numbers with them.

    Amazing Company, Amazing People!

    Pros

It’s not just the company I love working for but also the people I’m working with and for! Supportive upper management who not only care about your performance but also about you and your well being. Work hard and play hard is my motto! Great training programs, over communication which is exactly what you want and need and the benefits are phenomenal.

    Cons

    None at this present time.

The worst experience I've had in all my years working in the industry.

    Feb 3, 2020 - Anonymous Employee

    Pros

    1. Pay is most definitely competitive but you'll have to sell your soul to the devil 2. The company allows for it's employees to get overtime(There are dishonest people that take advantage of OT and don't actually work but instead waste time with personal matters) 3. If you desperately need a job, Greystar will hire anyone!

    Cons

Greystar will over work you to the bone until they have sucked you dry. There is no structure, no expectations, no consideration for other employees, none the less their residents(whom by the way are the reason we have jobs). Employees do whatever they want, on their personal phones all day, shopping on company PC's and no motivation to work with other team members. Moral is way down and any suggestions I've ever given were always ignored or shut down by management because they just don't care. Unprofessional staff members who don't follow through and no support system or leadership from upper management whatsoever. I had high hopes and expected a 'TEAM' atmosphere but was deceived. I quickly cought on to how unprofessional staff was and how gossip and personal time was what was most important and motivated this office. If you like to be given lunch breaks and have a tiny bit of peace and serenity for atleast 30 minutes, which legally you are entitled to, don't come to this company because they like to live on the edge and break labor laws all day! I can honestly say I was NOT happy or proud to represent this organization or anything it stands for.

    Very Very Corporate, Good Experience

Mar 26, 2021 - Assistant Community Manager in Santa Clarita, CA
    Recommend
    CEO Approval
    Business Outlook

    Pros

Good on the job experience. Everyone knows the company in the industry and it will help lead to other property management jobs. More communities across America than any other company.

    Cons

Many communities are under-staffed and over worked because positions have been cut by upper management and ownerships who are trying to save money. Regional managers can be extremely hands-off and not provide the required support to their teams. The company continually changes policies and procedures and the trainings can be disorganized and unhelpful. The internal company support (such as IT) is practically non-existent and you are forced to figure out.

    Horrible Management company

    Oct 6, 2017 - Property Manager
    Recommend

    Business Outlook

    Pros

    Decent pay. Competitive bonus

    Cons

Horrible leadership. Used to be a great company to work for until they merged with Riverstone and changed upper management. They stopped caring about associates. If they didn't like you, they would get rid of you. Tons of turnover after the merge.
