    Pros

Training and continuous career growth opportunities Corporate support and recognition Friendly work environments

    Cons

The company has a focus on work/life balance but it is not always achievable with all the requirements. Limited vacation roll over and use it or lose it policy. Help desk can be very frustrating.

    Best in class organization

    Pros

Greystar is an organization experiencing tremendous international growth while maintaining an entrepreneurial spirit in each of its city and regional offices. The work/life balance and value that senior leaders appear to place on prioritizing family is not just lip-service. The firm is committed to ethical business practices and doing things the right way. Greystar's scale allows employees to have access to tremendous technology resources, market research, innovative practices, and pricing power while still maintaining an entrepreneurial spirit. Leaders genuinely care about your career and that's evidenced by internal promotions. Leadership is diverse and there are many female executives across Greystar. The company invests extensively in leadership development and education!

    Cons

Occasional growing pains, but leadership is attentive to employee feedback and has the necessary resources to address concerns.

    Pros

Large company, room for advancement and mobility

    Cons

Work life balance is a joke and you're always fighting fires with knee jerk reactions from the leaders.

    Good Company with Good Benefits

    Pros

Greystar has lots of good benefits to offer with health and PTO. I also like that they encourage employees to participate in company events and learning seminars

    Cons

Biggest con is work life balance needs to be practiced and people sometimes are spread too thin when they should have a bigger staff onsite.

    Quit after 3 months

    Jun 11, 2021 - Leasing Professional

    Pros

Nice workspaces and some of the corporate workers were nice. Residents can be a lot of fun and one of the best parts of the job.

    Cons

I applied to assistant community manager and was convinced to come on at a lower position (leasing manager) under the premise that I would be promoted 'very quickly' and I would be a better trainer for it. Assistant CM was the only job listing so it's a bait and switch. I ended up doing the lowest job, the job I actually wanted, and my supervisor's job, all while being paid the lowest of the 3. I made less than $2000 a month and wasn't able to provide for my family all the while working 6 days a week since my boss called out all the time. I worked with one other girl (my supervisor and CM).. I was with the company for 3 months and she didn't work a single full week, she left early, and she took off at least 9 days (at different points) on top of that. Since she could enter her own schedule, she lied on her time card and had a lot of overtime. Her usual schedule was about 9:15-4:00. The regional manager was really sweet but had lied to me during the interview process. She told me she started as a leasing professional and that's why she recommended I start there and be able to train. I later found out that she was promoted to community manager pretty much her first day on the job since her manager quit. The same RM told a fellow leasing professional to mind her own business when it came to the CMs schedule since the CMs are encouraged to work the hours necessary to get the job done and if they finish early they can leave. My problem with my supervisor was not unique at all. I guess it is some kind of reward so they have a good work life balance... This created a huge problem with CMs pushing off their work onto other employees. It was a pretty horrible experience working for Greystar but that's mainly because of a work culture they created and the type of people they hired. We had a building disaster my second month that required the displacement of residents. It is something that the CM and RM should have taken care of but RM was on vacation and CM called out nearly the whole week because she felt she may have covid (she used that excuse 3 times and later admitted she had allergies). I had to talk to displaced residents, let service providers in, deal with the construction crew placement, tour walk ins, and actually try and lease the apartments by myself for a whole week and it was a total nightmare. I talked to a resident nearly a year later that felt as though they were lied to when applying to the apts., by the same supervisor. Benefits cost me almost $400/month for a basic plan.

The corporate culture in New England leaves much to be desired.

    Pros

On a national level, it's a very good company, and they offer advancement for the onsite teams.

    Cons

The leadership in New England lacks managerial courage. The turnover rate is in excess of 75% on the RPM level. They churn and burn. The senior leadership is composed of two women that micromanage and don't believe in any kind of work life balance. They surround themselves with other women, who also choose to sacrifice their life for their job. It's actually very sad.

    Great Company to Work for!

Aug 24, 2022 - Project Manager in Charleston, SC

    Pros

The culture over the last few years has dramatically improved. The work life balance is some of the best I have seen at a company. Additionally, the ability to grow upward is there.

    Cons

I cannot not think of too many cons that are worth mentioning here. I would say, although the company now has maternity leave, it still falls short to some competitors.

Is fantastic if you're not apart of a marginalized demographic

Jul 13, 2021 - Leasing Professional in Seattle, WA

    Pros

Most of my team on-site was fantastic, supportive and fun! I always felt supported by management in my work and got lucky to have landed at that location. Work/life balance was good and I never felt micromanaged; your experience here will mostly depend on your team.

    Cons

Their diversity and inclusion initiatives are a complete joke. I was the only person of color in my office and when I had to report a coworker for a laundry list of microaggressive and prejudiced behavior, HR found any reason to make it 'both of our faults' and condescend me for even reporting it. They accused me of being the microaggressive one when I remained coordial consistently, even while this colleague had a meltdown and had to leave work because I made her feel 'unsafe' by existing near her while black and acting normally/doing my job, and she had another meltdown (full of even more microaggressions) during our conflict mediation call after this happened. By definition, you literally cannot be microaggressive towards someone who is apart of a racial majority and I was criticized for talking about human rights abuses at work, while Greystar's code of conduct has an entire section about not condoning human rights violations on page 16. This among other ignorant comments from HR made it very clear that they didn't know what they were talking about and I wouldn't recommend working here to anyone who is a racial minority, because if you experience any prejudice at all, Greystar doesn't have it built into their policies to allow for any solution other than "write it off as a communication issue and wait for them to leave". Which I did, happily.

Dream Job - It's like coming home!

    Pros

I've been lucky enough to be with Greystar for 9 months and I have every intention of making this my forever home and retiring from here. From day 1 I have felt the positive attitudes, spirits and support from upper management. They genuinely care about their employees and the company as a whole. The family work life balance is an actual balance and not like other companies claim to be about. Lots of room for growth and transfer.

    Cons

I can honestly say, at this point in my career here, I have none.
