I have been working at Grimco full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Easy job out of college. You learn the basics of the industry then all you have to do is sell.

Great job if you have kids. Easy 8-5 (though it should be 8-4).

It is fairly easy to take vacation time when you need it. As long as you have coverage in the office, you should be able to take off.

    Cons

PTO policy is outdated. They do not give you any sick time.
    3 months - 2 years: 10 days
    3-9 years: 15 days
    10 years+: 20 days

If you have a bad manager, you're gonna have a bad time. Lots of micromanagement in some offices.

Commission plan is a joke. It is more of a bonus than commission.

    No opportunity for advancement.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees. Their ideas could help you.
    Don't overload your best workers.
Stop micromanaging. Let your employees do their jobs.

I have been working at Grimco full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Grimco's culture is awesome, from the executives down. I feel that everyone cares about eachother's success and growing with the company.

    Cons

Not a con, but I would love to have more interactions from branch to branch.

    I worked at Grimco full-time

    Pros

Grimco hires employees based on personality and work ethic. I have worked for Grimco for 2 years and still love what I do and who I work with. Management cares about their employees, unfortunately you can not make everyone happy.

I have seen first hand the amazing things this company has done for employees during their times of need. If you work hard and are passionate about what you do, you will stand out and be rewarded for your work.

    Cons

Keep up casual Fridays and more competitions.

I have been working at Grimco full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Amazing work environment with super helpful employees. Mostly everyone has been there for multiple years,

    Cons

Bosses dont really communicate much information, A lot of information is thrown at you and you are expected to know a bunch of random information. Hours are 8-5 which it should be 8-4.

    Advice to Management

Communication needs to happen more often

I worked at Grimco full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The only pro on this company was the location to me.

    Cons

Some of the downsides with this employer was the lack of training I received and lack of management style

    Advice to Management

Would recommend finding manager's who can manage one store/location and not have them spread out in a different state.

I worked at Grimco full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Profit sharing & health insurance plans are generous.

    Cons

Grimco expects entirely too much from their underpaid employees. They run extremely lean and want one person to do the job of five. They continue to fire good employees with no documented warnings and expect the rest of the team to pick up the excess work when they're gone. Work/Life balance is non-existent. Favoritism is blatantly obvious. Time off policies are antiquated. No sick days. Use it or lose your PTO. No structure on who can work from home and when. The company does not like to use titles, so there is no clarity of what is who's job. Extremely rude, unhelpful, and disorganized IT staff. They continue to acquire new companies when the current corporate staff cannot even keep their head above water on unfinished projects.

I worked at Grimco full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

-For someone who is coming straight out of college this is a great first experience.
-The job is of low maintenance and stress levels unless you let it take it over your life.
-The insurance is great and is really hard to beat.
-Its hard to say how each branch runs but if you have the right team this can be a really enjoyable experience.

    Cons

-The base salary is not competitive and the commission structure is capped very low.
-Dont hold your breath when it comes to reviews and pay increases. Your income is basically capped after your second year.
-"There is always something around the corner that might lead to more opportunities" should be their slogan. I can't count how many times I was told that there might be more opportunities around the corner. This leads to false expectations of career growth.
-There is little to no room for growth.
-PTO is only 10 days coming in.

    Advice to Management

If you want to hire the best and retain your current staff you have to be more competitive with your salaries. There has to be better career paths designed for your employees.

I can't emphasize how much more you should invest in your employees. Everything from training, defining career paths, creating a company culture, and understanding that we need time to ourselves. Two weeks out of fifty two weeks as PTO is nothing. People want to work to live not live to work. Its time to catch up with the times.

    Pros

The majority of the people you work with are amazing and become every day friends.

    Cons

It's a "what have you done for me lately" job, but then again what sales job isn't?

    Advice to Management

Pay should be market-based instead of a flat standard that everyone starts at.
