    Pros

Growing company. Good health care plan.

    Cons

High turnover, high pressure, low pay. Unrealistic expectations. The Grimco machine chews people up and spits them out. The only thing that matters is 'profits'.

    Advice to Management

    None

I worked at Grimco full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The corporate office is very inviting when you go to train there.

    Cons

    - Understaffed and overworked.
    - As stated before, no plan for when people leave, and I had to work in the warehouse carrying heavy boxes for many afternoons.
    - No sick leave, minimal PTO. No work life balance, which is shocking since they ask a lot of young graduates to relocate for their positions.
    - Commission is an absolute joke. Based on your whole branch sales, not your personal sales.
    - Extremely micromanaged.
    - No room for growth- sales reps are all the same title, no tiers.
    - Not sales, customer service job- entering orders and answering the phone.
    - Strict 8 am - 5pm, though that didn't apply to my manager.

I have been working at Grimco full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I have been at the Toronto branch for a little over a year. Everyone has equal opportunity. Work hard and success will come. I believe I get paid fair for what I do. I love my job, the people I work with and the people I work for. President is very approachable. Past employees want to pretent they have moved onto bigger and better things, and suddenly they are back. Grimco Toronto is my family and I am very happy to be here.

    Cons

Some customer are ruthless, this is by far the worst part of the job. A 1hr lunch would be nice. Very little vacation, 2 weeks, for new employees.

    Advice to Management

Reward entire staff more and not only selected individuals.

    Pros

    - great place to start learning the ins and outs of sales
    - great CEO who I believe truly cares for the company and the people
    - met some great people
    - learned the meaning of hard work

    Cons

    - often understaffed
    - no strategy set in place for when employees decide to leave the company. You could potentially stay understaffed for multiple quarters.
    - when warehouse employee takes vacation or for whatever reason leaves the company, the inside sales reps are expected to pick up the duties.
    - they appear to promote the best sales people into managerial roles, which often doesn't work out because they tend to lack certain people skills
    - commission structure during my time was not really a commission structure. A salesman from any other industry or company would mock it. It wasn't nearly enough to be considered a "commissioned" position.
    - most micromanaged job I have ever had
    - PTO + sick time were extremely lacking
    - employees out in the branches did not receive the same attention as corporate employees

    Advice to Management

    - Grimco is a good company with some really great people. Do what you can to not burn them out while you have them.
    - Have real plans for branches when the inevitable happens and employees leave.
    - Compensate better with a real sales commission plan. Don't be stingy on paying out commission if an employee truly deserves it.
