I have been working at Grocery Outlet full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I have been with Grocery Outlet, Inc. for 2 years now. It is far the 'best employment experience' I had! Honesty, openness, ‘being yourself’ are a few of the many great things I can describe our culture here. I’m with a highly talented team who offers a ton of support, both personal and professional, understand the demands of family life, encourages new ideas, push everyone to be ‘better’, supports innovation and growth. I learn new things every day which is really important for me.

The Executive and Leadership team are the most talented people in the industry. There is not so much of ‘office politics’ going on, but leaders who value hard work and recognize talent! I also like how open and transparent our leaders here who always go outside their way to help their employees.

GOI also offer great benefits and amenities – gym on-site, fitness classes, valet parking, beautiful office space, complimentary fruits and beverages, accessible snacks, and profit sharing.

    Cons

Oftentimes, the office gets very quiet, despite the open concept layout. Employees are very respectful.

I worked at Grocery Outlet part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Really nice customers; a few great co-workers; great prices; great selection of healthy and organic foods & products.

    Cons

Moody, unprofessional owner who makes clear her favorite and least favorite people. Employees are micro-managed and treated like untrustworthy children. .. e.g., not allowed to know the daily break schedule and often forced to go without breaks for more than 3 hours - especially if you've been so bold as to kindly ask when you might get a break. Cashiers not allowed to talk to other cashiers, not even about the job, during working hours. Cashiers forced to endure blinding, hot sun from front windows without a break and not allowed to have any beverage at hand (not even bottled water.) There is lack of communication regarding changes in prices or products and no consistency between supervisors regarding what is expected or how things should be done. Employees are always made to look and feel incompetent or foolish in front of customers. There was a big issue with sexual harassment between two other employees but managers did not want to deal with it so they ignored it. It was very much a hostile, unhappy environment for many of us but everyone is afraid to say anything for fear of losing their job or being in a worse situation than already exists.

    Advice to Management

Be professional and trust that your employees are actually good people who like helping others and want to do the best job possible. Put a stop to the brown-nosing and backstabbing, rather than encouraging it. Pay attention to legally required employee breaks and understand that to get the best work out of an employee, the management must offer a friendly, fair, and professional environment for everyone.

I worked at Grocery Outlet full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

develop close relationship with coworkers, given most locations don't hire a big amount of people

    Cons

horrible management (dependent on location) since its individually ran, management may be messy, pay is barely above minimum wage, no room for improvement tbh don't waste your time

I worked at Grocery Outlet full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great hard working employees, nice customers

    Cons

Management has favorites, pay is below average, does not respect their employees, does not follow the corporate rules. Throws away tons of good that could be donated. Does not keep up on health codes.

    Advice to Management

How is an employee suppose to speak to the supervisor about anything. When all the management is related. That's four top spots. Corporate needs to take a look at the mass amount of turnover in employees. And how Klamath Falls OR is operated.
