Aug 25, 2017 - Class A CDL Driver/HazMat Tanker in Kansas City, MORecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Great bosses my wife was pregnant and I was able to make it to every doctors appointment. Nice equipment ,good trucks dispatch is awesome coworkers are great. They really care about you as a person not just another employee. Great pay quarterly safety bonus.
Cons
Benefits are a little high but that's to be expected now a days. Took away million mile safety banquets but will get a end of the year bonus instead
Continue readingWe appreciate the feedback. It’s great to hear that you’re enjoying working for Groendyke Transport. It’s good to know you feel at home and valued here. We will take your comments about the million-mile banquets into consideration. However, I think it’s important to note that the million-mile banquets were replaced by an annual banquet at every terminal to celebrate their yearly safety accomplishments. Also, our drivers stand to make substantially more money under the new bonus program.

Very good company
Aug 16, 2013 - Class A CDL Driver/HazMat Tanker in Fountain, CORecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Groendyke cares about its employees, pay is ok, benefits are great, 401k and health. groendyke has good equipments and are always seeking for better equipment.
Cons
pay is ok but we have not received a pay raise in almost 8 years, safety bonus pay has decreased, no paid sick days for drivers, so drivers work when injured or when they are ill. vacation pay at 15 years is only 3 weeks, it should be 4 weeks.

competitive benefits and pay. management stands behind their drivers. equiptment is mostly newer and very well maintained. management is very approachable and open to suggestions. very flexible shifts to accomadate personal schedule needs. you truly get out of this company and career what you put into it. worked for a lot of trucking companies and groendyke is by far the best
Cons
the only con is my terminal has a lot of old trailers that need replaced with newer models

Should of come here first!
Feb 6, 2015 - Fuel Hauler in Grand Junction, Optional[CO]RecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Hauling fuel out of the Grand Junction, CO terminal for 3 months. Background: I came from the Gas Patch hauling crude oil (condensate) in the Colorado Rockies since 2011 and have driven OTR since 1996. I have worked for 8 different companies from large to small. So I know what it's like to feel as if you are 'just another replaceable PART of a power unit' and all the games that are played by dispatchers, management and other drivers. So, when I came to Groendyke Transport, it wouldn't take much to make me happy. Boy, was I surprised! I'm home every night! Long days have been 12 to 14 hrs and short ones have been 10 to 12 hrs. I'm home for dinner most nights. I asked for a day off 2 months in for some personal business and was immediately told yes. No complaining, no guilt trips, no making me regretting it latter. The pay is fare. I have earned more but was never home. I have earned less but was never home. You get the idea. The Office here in GJ is the best. For the first time with an employer, I feel we ALL work together as a team. I feel respected for my skills and I'm valued as a employee. My terminal manager is very approachable and speaks the truth. He does not regurgitate corp BS when you ask questions. They have managed to balance the needs of the job with the needs of the driver. I am very confident that this is the company I will retire from.
Cons
Out here on the Western Slope we are a small (comparatively) outfit. So we don't have all the new stuff. My rig has 650K plus (others have 750K plus) on it and my trailer looks like something out of a Mad Max movie. It's embarrassing sometimes when your loading next to a Maverick truck that looks like it's been detailed every weekend. Even during the winter. I wash mine every week and I can not even come close to the shiny rigs you see in the Groendyke videos. FYI: You get paid to wash your rig. I don't think Groendyke can fix this short of sending all new equipment out here because there is no pro wash here. Just our wash rack and it's a small market. However, My rig is serviced well and the shop is very responsive to fixing things.

Live and Breath Groendyke - and thats still not enough
Apr 14, 2017 - Transportation Coordinator in Houston, TXRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
The facilities are decent at the Houston Terminal. The pay was decent. They do spend money flying you out to corporate in OK for training and summits. I developed some good relationships while there. They have competitive benefits (BCBS) and decent 401k matching 2.5 percent
Cons
be prepared to have zero personal time. As a Transportation Coordinator you are expected to rotate on calls. Typicaly, that shouldn't be too consuming, however, at the Houston Terminal, 'on call" was a full time job in itself with phone calls all throughout the night and then go to work the next day and from dusk till dawn on the weekends. You are given a company phone with a tiny 2x4 screen and if you dont have internet at home or a laptop/tablet etc, too bad, they will not supply that for you. They expect you to take calls and work efficiently from your tiny little phone, its absurd. Also, when you hear they are all about family and taking care of their employees, maybe at some terminals but I watched several birthdays while I was there and everyone got their own cake, when mine came around not one person even told me Happy Birthday.

I am sorry to hear that you had such a difficult experience at our Houston terminal. The position of Transportation Coordinator has changed dramatically in recent years and has become an extremely complex, complicated and time-consuming career that isn’t the right fit for everyone. That said, we appreciate your candid, professional feedback and will use it as an opportunity to improve.

Feb 22, 2016 - Anonymous Employee in Enid, OKRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Very friendly, family like environment. Teamwork is prevalent throughout corporate. Safety culture is instilled on everyone from day one along with integrity and professionalism. Everyone knows the drivers 'pay the bills' so we work together to ensure they have what they need to provide our services safely and on time.
Cons
Busy, busy, busy, busy, busy, always something going on, busy. It is great for business I know, but you'll definitely earn your money!

Pros
Many improvements in the last couple years with the pay and benefits. Newer trucks and decent trailers.still a long way to go!
Cons
Central dispatch is not fulfilling the mandate to improve driver health and welfare which causes a lack of driver retention. And lower wages across the board.
