I have been working at Grom Associates full-time

    Pros

Company is growing very quickly, with new clients every week. Endless opportunities and no ceiling on commissions or financial opportunities. Great team structure, with motivating and supportive management.

    Cons

Very expensive health benefits, almost 4 times more than what is available elsewhere. Long work days, and limited holiday calendar. Not many quality of life benefits.

    Pros

Grom is a company hiring contractors.

    Cons

Don't accept working for this company. They have financial problems and DO NOT PAY when they promise in contract. So many unacceptable excuses they can't give you the money you earned !

I worked at Grom Associates (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Exposure to Fortune 500 clients and top quality SAP experts.
Unlimited earning potential for salespeople, recruiters.
    Numerous learning, development opportunities.
Family-run organization, which has mostly benefits.

    Cons

Cons for staff augmentation services are consistent with staffing industry as a whole: pressure on rates, dealing with bails/no-shows, consultant payterms that can be a headache.
Limited career growth opportunity outside sales path.
    Poor benefits, no 401k match.

    Advice to Management

Find ways to improve payment terms to consultants; find ways to motivate recruiters and salespeople in addition to just financial incentives.

    Pros

Owner really cares about his employees.

    Cons

Management is top heavy - too many execs & too few worker bees

    Pros

Is very aligned with SAP and is expanding into new industries and markets. Has a great team of people with a strong pedigree in SAP.

    Cons

Consulting business requires travel and time away from home.

    Advice to Management

    Improve the internal processes.

    Pros

Grom has been in the game a long time. They know the industry and have relationships with a lot of top tier clients. They also have working partnerships with some of the best consultants in the marketplace.

    Cons

Their admin policies definitely have room for improvement. I see where some have posted that Grom does not pay. Admittedly, they are slow to pay at times, but in over ten years, I have never not been paid. Grom has ALWAYS paid.

    Advice to Management

Modernize your payment practices and work to keep your consultants as happy as your clients.

    Pros

There are very few positive things to say. The payment scam is the biggest issue here. They routinely lie about the payment terms.

    Cons

Terms are set at "Plus 7" meaning that 7 days after they receive client payment they will pay you. This translates into working for 2 weeks (or one month depending on client terms) before submitting your invoice. Tack on at least a week to process your invoice. Then the invoice is sent to the client. Then the client's payment terms kick in. Could be 30, 45, 52, or 60 day terms. You are now looking at 2-3 months before ever seeing a check. At this point, the games start. People who don't complain are rewarded with the company holding checks back to deal with cash-flow issues. Only the highly vocal complainers are given priority. Best advise is to threaten to leave a job or client, or talk to the client directly and they will give you better terms. You can get net 30 terms if you complain enough or make enough noise about it. If you don't you will be marginalized.

    Advice to Management

Integrity is billed as a core value here, but it just isn't present in any business dealing. I would rethink how people are treated.

    Pros

    They seem nice and engaging

    Cons

I worked with a group of GROM consultants on a project. At 2.5 months, I got paid faster than the others because I made them give me a tracking number on the check. They used all the tricks: They bill the client after the first two weeks. They give the client 30 days to pay. They pay 30 days after that. They pay by check only. They put it in the mailbox on Friday afternoon After the mailman comes by. The check is from an out-of-town bank to slow things down. They did this to everyone. Some consultants worked on their 3 whole months before money was in the account. This is NOT standard

    Advice to Management

Consulting is a small world and GROM does come in conversation among seasoned consultants like myself. You guys do have a bad reputation for paying your consultants in a timely manner. This strategy seems to be acceptable to you, but good luck getting experience help in the future.

I worked at Grom Associates (More than a year)

    Pros

Eager Firm if they are already engaged in the assignment

    Cons

Wont travel out of NJ to visit the client. Wont support their employees or hourly resources. Only acknowledges workers if they are billing. Wont help with extending the resource - you need to do that at your expense or risk getting fired.

    Advice to Management

Stay in NJ! Anything outside of your home town will be over your head for you to support!
