I have been working at Guardian Protection Services full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Medium sized company allows for less red tape. Less talk and more doing. Great leadership team actively scouts the industry for additional talent and technology.

    Cons

Processes and procedures just becoming current. Business managers and directors slow to change. Odd relationship with parent company. Smaller staff means sharing more responsibilities that may fall outside of your job function.

    Advice to Management

It is hard to critique any decisions by upper management at this time. At one point there was a lack of delegation and proper talent at the right level but that is no longer the case.

I have been working at Guardian Protection Services full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Stable, Monday-Friday, business hours job.
Great people (with the exception of a few)
    Steady work load, never overwhelming

    Cons

No opportunities for advancement for a branch-level Administrative Support worker. Some company higher-ups don't understand what happens at the branch level, but feel like making changes that they feel will help (but generally do the exact opposite.)

    Advice to Management

Take a day-trip to a branch, just to observe every now and then. We have a specific way that we do things to keep things organized, and a specific way that we get by when corporate decides we need more things to keep us distracted.

I have been working at Guardian Protection Services full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

I have been with Guardian for 10 years. It is privately owned and has been very rewarding as it is ever changing. Great for first time job seekers but not a place to build a career any longer.

    Cons

They do not allow their sales or general managers to make changes or be leaders. Their only purpose is to implement Corporate Managements top-down decisions no matter what. They have changed the culture at each branch in the past 18 months to go with a youth movement with lots of turnover.

    Advice to Management

Let your managers make decisions at the branch level.

I have been working at Guardian Protection Services full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Above average pay. Good benefits. Opportunities for progression. Decent location. Good people working here, it's like coming to work with a good group of friends.

    Cons

Information overload. They have a great trainig department but there is so much information to learn it can not possibly ALL be taught during an 10 week training course. If you already know the industry you have a leg up but the hardest thing to master are the computer programs and ever changing processes and procedures. ALOT of on the job training. Processes and procedures are changing everyday. Poor communication between departments. No sense of any foward planning or inclusion in company goals. Operating most of the company on outdated computer programs and sales strategies. Poor attrition rate in many departments. Compensation across the board should be more based on the industry and market but Guardian can afford to be a little cheap with salary as they are on of the few companies consistently hiring in this area. Don't expect to gross more than $40,000 unless you are in upper management or a department head. All lower level positions will pay less than this. Typical starting salary is $12-$16 if you are lucky.

    Advice to Management

Raise salaries to national market averages and your turnover rate for employees would be less and your training costs would be reduced. Cut out back end processes work and let reps focus on their jobs more.

I have been working at Guardian Protection Services full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

I've had many great times at Guardian. The people become a second family. The company tries to show appreciation to all the employees throughout the year.

    Cons

It can be difficult to move up. A lot of people don't make it a full year. If you do though, here are almost endless possibilities.

    Pros

Solid Management team. Hard working and talented.

    Cons

Since the company provides 24 hour support a good number of the jobs have nighttime work schedules.

I worked at Guardian Protection Services full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Incredible support for sales people, amazing training, great management structure, lots of autonomy.

    Cons

Commission plan was kind of convoluted, hard to understand at first. A little harder to sell because they don't have the name recognition in most parts of the country that some companies like ADT have.

    Advice to Management

Nothing comes to mind. My entire experience with this company was top notch
