I worked at Guavus full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    - Great deal of data processing and analytical technologies - Huge investment in personal improvement and learning - Solid employee-first-policy - Dynamic environment - Lots of activities to do and have-fun-together like a family - Few levels of hierarchy where the "boss" of your "boss" is coding next to you on the same project - Work/life balance - Very competitive benefits (hardly could find companies... competing with Guavus)

    Cons

Guavus is in transition to shape a new culture of work and product development. That may not be easy for everybody to jump-in and needs adventurous people.

    Advice to Management

The engineers can handle more than it seems!

I have been working at Guavus full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

    - Get to work on amazing stuff that invigorates your mind. - Good colleagues from whom you get to learn a lot. - Most of the managers are good. - Amazing perks and benefits - good amount of leaves and much more than expected holidays. - This is the best part - Guavus respects all its employees equally. Even if you are the junior most engineer, you get to travel Business Class if you travel on a long haul flight.... Same benefit as what a VP or a Director would get. Not many companies give you a Business Class flight, and those that they do, reserve it for elite honchos. - CEO is reachable, and to make himself more reachable, he has launched an incognito tool that makes it easy to give critical feedback that you might not give openly. And the best part is that he reads out the harshest of those and answers them in all hands. - I am excited about the work I do and get paid reasonably well.

    Cons

Some senior folks who were used to generous hikes when they were young, crib about not getting 25% hike every year.

    Advice to Management

Things have improved vastly in the last 1-2 years. Keep on doing the good work !

    Pros

    You get free Puppet show.

    Cons

Worse company with CEO as a puppet in the hands of Engineering. Ir-respective of how crap the engineering is CEO has no control over the delivery and more and more power is being grabbed by the engineering to have a control over the company. No matter what people or CEO are saying, Engineering is running its own show in the most arrogant way. Nobody cares how good you perform or how dedicated you are unless you can... suck up to the management.

I have been working at Guavus full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

    - Great team of very talented people. A lot of employees have been with us for a long time. - Great office on the 16th floor in old Montreal. Close to metro / bus / bixi. - We are working with a nice set of technology. Always trying to stay on top of what new technology can be useful for us.

    Cons

We have been acquired early in 2018 and all senior leadership is new. What that means is that Guavus is pivoting right now and it's not always smooth. Though from my perspective, this is getting fixed.

    Pros

    Free snacks round the clock

    Cons

No New Projects. No Revenue. POCs failing. Existing projects on the verge of extinction due to bad Architecture choices but no one is held accountable and guess what project teams are being pegged for disaster. Senior Management trying to do everything from scratch. CEO is full of talks and no action. Company is going down day by day and CEO is hiding behind the newly hired management team to save his job. Such a... useless fellow. what happened to fail fast learn fast? We have failed tremendously fast but CEO don't have the ability to learn or take action due to his own inabilities and insecurities

I worked at Guavus full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Some good mid level folks who still take ownership and accountability to deliver on plans.

    Cons

Several and start from the top CXO level. A team of executives that dont know what it take to run a organisation, short while back they had a change of management that seems to have taken them to worse, while the old top level nonperformers are still around. All target gaps are pegged as engineering flaws and issues. How can a team of executives sitting in US (so many of them!) far away from all the execution... centers even know what the ground reality is? Product management is a joke with most of them getting confused when technology comes into a discussion and they seem quick to jump to claim engineering cannot deliver. Architecture and analytics are flash and bang with no action. The HR function is all glamour and no interest in people, again the choices show the disconnect of what the CEO thinks and what the reality is. My views are favorable towards engineering but they do have a great team with good owners. I would have loved to work with them, had it not been for the rest of the mess.

I have been working at Guavus full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Probably Salary and Mid day snacks.

    Cons

No clear vision. Nepotism at its best. Poor management and work distribution. Only few people get to work on good things. Rest on them keep on maintaining their legacy code, that filth. Senior members project wrong image of junior staff. Promotions/Appraisal are dependent on their review. Nobody tries to find out who really worked and who not.

I have been working at Guavus full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    - good compensation - they have work related to big data but no sense to use it

    Cons

    - guavus is loosing customers and running short of money, can close any day in next year - most of the good people who were there in the company have left to join other good companies. one big portion of the company started a new company - managers and project managers unncessary make deadlines hard to screw work life balance - more politics less work - level of work is almost zero now a days...they have a... platform, so most of the people work on inhouse frameworks rather than open source technologies - worst work culture - team managers are very less experienced and doesn't have required skills to lead a team - most of the people have to work on almost all weekends - managers will call you and make you work even after office house and that too late night - manager will hide information from developers so that they remain smartest person in the team - no employee value....employees are scared for their jobs if they don't complete extra hard deadlines during production release by working day and night - these days as many employees are leaving, freshers are being hired so that they can be made to work extra hard

    Pros

Some colleagues are nice people. Salary is OK type..

    Cons

Politics , Favouritism, Groupism. Some people get continuous promotions and hikes just because they are closer to some senior management. If you are hoping to grow based on your work, forget it. The only way to grow here is to be closer to some people. Fortunately most of these people are leaving Guavus now(The whole chain of such leader and his followers are moving to another place). Hopefully it'll be a better... place soon.

    Advice to Management

Make everything transparent. To very top management, ensure that such politics never happens. It demoralizes even the good people out there.
