I have been working at Guavus full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Decent Pay, cant think of anything else.
Peers at junior level are ambitious and technically good

    Cons

By far the worst working environment i ever witnessed in my career. Working here is a real struggle.
They hired herd of middle Program managers who do nothing but check status and your computer screen. Yes, be prepared to face insults if you by any chance open something other than a linux terminal
Office boys are instructed to keep an eye on employee to report if they are not working
So much hate and dis-trust among employee fuelled by divisive and deliberate management style of putting employee against each other
HR is a complete joke, they have 0 policy decision making power
If you eat a few more biscuits from the pantry, be prepared to be formally notified that "its not acceptable". Management have nothing better to do than keep track who is eating how much
Toe the line of dumb managers or be asked to leave the company. Company perfect for bootlickers and intellectually challenged people. Don't even dare to question judgement of "managers"
If you don't please the "manager" , get ready to be tagged as worst performer and get single digit yearly increments

At last, I want to say to prospective employees, do yourself a huge favour and not joing this company. It feels like you are slowly strangled everyday and no amount of money can take away that feeling

    Advice to Management

Hire leaders in the form of managers not leachers

I have been working at Guavus full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Salary and technology for sure

    Cons

    1. Describe Guvavus in one word?
    - Politics, Group-ism

    2. What do you think about Guavus employees ?

    - Really good talent pool attracted by Guavus in both Dev and QA

    3. What do you think about top Management?

    - Autocrats who do not have trust on their capabilities, that's why they are building their middle management from their previous links, Ir-respective of technical capability of person.

    4. Please share some thoughts about middle management?

    - They are either extremely worst people manager or dumb technically (except few). These species lives in group. Who can not do any thing other than asking status. They are the most happy people at Guavus as their so called boss trust them blindly away from reality

    5. Any other job middle management does other than micro management?

    - Yes, they put all their energy to push their team down. They wants every one to follow their orders. If you deny to, you will be kicked out with bottom performer tag. Never seen such thing in any product organization. They are not able to see a bigger picture of getting best out of their team.

    6. Guavus must have hired few managers without any past links. Are they not doing any thing to curb that so called Guavus Politics

    - Yeah, few joined motivated to build an open environment. But existing chained system can easily kick them out. Management is highly capable of keeping their autocratic system intact till now.

7 . Few words about HR?

-They have mugged up how to describe an ideal organization. That's how they will get you in. Their main job is to arrange parties and follow BU head orders.
There is new HR head who looks promising but there is no visible impact till now.

    8. What about Guavus employee review process?

Completely useless. It reflect your relationship with your manager nothing else. Only single person's opinion is taken in review. No option for manager's feedback, if you dare to give any, be ready for consequences

    Advice to Management

Identify and break the chain in management. Build a strong system for employee review where power is distributed. Free your smart engineers from worry of handling politics, their main job should be to build best products not about how to save them-self from politics.

You managed to get best talent, now work on to retain them

I have been working at Guavus full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    1. Real good salary. Huge in-hand component. no flexi component so it is better then any top notch company that claims to offer huge packages but in-hand is meager.
    2. Talent pool is really good. You get to learn a lot.
    3. Good coding experience.
    4. Good infrastructure and facilities.

    Cons

    1. No cab facility outside gurgaon
    2. Not much focus on brand awareness
    3. Team outings not just team lunches should be organized and there should be one outing per quarter

    Advice to Management

Don't compromise on talent pool. Value current employees in all manners. What you have gathered so far is not easy to achieve and you cant afford to loose them.

    Pros

    1. Pay scale is good if you can squeeze during negotiation.
    2. if you are open source enthusiast, few of open source library/tools are in use.

    Cons

    1. Management has hired some employee who are incompetent in technology. Got hired because of past relations with management. They spy & flatter a lot.
    2. Negotiate hard during interview process. HR/Management may cheat you and person sitting next to you may be getting much more than you.
    3. Do not wait for management to give you fair opportunity, ask early if feel you are not getting. If you are lucky you can get. But in all known cases this effort is futile.
    4. Management is highly un-fair/biased. Do your best to get opportunity if you like one, because management is never going to give you on the basis of merit. It is flattery & management's favorites who will get it.
    5. Management is un-professional. They will hire you and will keep assigning side work until you leave. They have no duty to grow any employee.
    6. The worst thing is that management uses abusive language. Shame on such people in tech companies.
    7. If you are looking at guavus as employer think carefully. I got advice from my two friends but still joined. Do not think this yet another review. I mean it.

Good luck to all passionate technocrats!!

    Advice to Management

    1. Please understand that you have duty to grow all employee not selected.
    2. Please stop using abusive language before guavus becomes a synonym for 'abuse' in tech industry.
