I worked at Guavus full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

There really are no pros. Used to be the case when big data was an in-thing, now there are plenty of big data/data science opportunities.

    Cons

They recently got acquired by Thales and outside of the top management, none of the employees, even long-standing employees made any money, after years of no salary hikes and no bonuses. One can say this is typical in Silicon Valley, but this is really exploitation in action. There are multiple options in SV/India/Canada where the top management do care about their employees so no need to waste time here.

    Advice to Management

The least you could have done is given a small reward out of your own share to every one who worked, as a token.

I have been working at Guavus full-time

    Pros

great ppl to work with very friendly policies good work life balance people who are motivated to do good work and really think of the company as their own good technology exposure freedom to try new ideas subordinates who value our work

    Cons

Dear CEO Sir and people operations team --- Let me start by saying all of us are in favour of having our ex guavuns join us back as they all leave for various different reasons. But what is currently happening in hiring process is beyond astonishing. People that are joining us back are setting up bad hiring examples - case in point being newly appointed data scientist who left Guavus in May 2016 to form his own... analytics company. He also forced a lot of current employees to resign from Guavus creating false rumours about the centre and also kept the higher management in dark stating employees wanted to resign themselves. Not just this, for 1+ year that he was forming his own company, he made some of the employees work on his personal projects hiding a lot of truth from them. This was done on company’s time and cost. He also brought along his partners to Guavus premises to propogate about their company. All of this was done with the support of a top level VP and the employees were forced to keep quiet by misleading the top management that the team is not capable. Some loyal employees decided to fight and stay back with the company. Now this person is hired back in a role that he does not even have the qualifications for….. In US, if such an event occurs, it would be consider as violate company policy but since it was India, everything was hushed under the table as one high level VP was also involved. CEO sir, my beleif this is against the work ethics we want to have at Guavus. I am suprised the the HR is acceptable of such employee behaviour. If we are hiring such people, then the impression this sshows to the other loyal and hard working people such behavior is acceptable. urge you to please look at this because it creates an environment of distrust. And if hiring continues like this, very soon a lot of the workforce will again loose the trust in their CEO (which by the way they have has recently has started to have)

    Advice to Management

Request to HR - just do a simple CV check and you will know he has no qualifications or experience to be a scientist….! This is an insult to other people in same roles who work and prove themselves to get a title like that.

I worked at Guavus full-time for more than a year

    Pros

They hired some good engineers by bait of good pay offers.

    Cons

Management is dictatorship, so worst that they would leave behind even North Korean by their standards. Highly insecure, who think engineers under them are day laborers. Only those people grown in this environment, who share similar mentality of pomp, cheat, selfish. Product declining thanks to fowl top management, and they are living on investor's money till it lasts.

    Advice to Management

    Just shove them off.

I have been working at Guavus full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    Salary and technology for sure

    Cons

    1. Describe Guvavus in one word? - Politics, Group-ism 2. What do you think about Guavus employees ? - Really good talent pool attracted by Guavus in both Dev and QA 3. What do you think about top Management? - Autocrats who do not have trust on their capabilities, that's why they are building their middle management from their previous links, Ir-respective of technical capability of person. 4.... Please share some thoughts about middle management? - They are either extremely worst people manager or dumb technically (except few). These species lives in group. Who can not do any thing other than asking status. They are the most happy people at Guavus as their so called boss trust them blindly away from reality 5. Any other job middle management does other than micro management? - Yes, they put all their energy to push their team down. They wants every one to follow their orders. If you deny to, you will be kicked out with bottom performer tag. Never seen such thing in any product organization. They are not able to see a bigger picture of getting best out of their team. 6. Guavus must have hired few managers without any past links. Are they not doing any thing to curb that so called Guavus Politics - Yeah, few joined motivated to build an open environment. But existing chained system can easily kick them out. Management is highly capable of keeping their autocratic system intact till now. 7 . Few words about HR? -They have mugged up how to describe an ideal organization. That's how they will get you in. Their main job is to arrange parties and follow BU head orders. There is new HR head who looks promising but there is no visible impact till now. 8. What about Guavus employee review process? Completely useless. It reflect your relationship with your manager nothing else. Only single person's opinion is taken in review. No option for manager's feedback, if you dare to give any, be ready for consequences

    Advice to Management

Identify and break the chain in management. Build a strong system for employee review where power is distributed. Free your smart engineers from worry of handling politics, their main job should be to build best products not about how to save them-self from politics. You managed to get best talent, now work on to retain them
