I worked at Guess? part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Employee discount 40% , flexible hours

    Cons

Complete management change and it was not for the better. New Co-manager position was filled around the time I was in training to be an assistant manager, but he didn't acknowledge that and pushed for someone else, who didn't want to but he kept pushing her, to take the postion. He cut many of our hours to the point where many of us could not afford to get to work. He created a hostile working environment where many employees who have been there for years resigned because of this unfair treatment.

    Advice to Management

Acknowledge your employees who want to move up and be promoted instead of pushing them aside and pulling others who don't want it. Good employees leave because of bad management, and that goes for corporate management as well. Talk to your associates.

I have been working at Guess? part-time

    Pros

    The discount is fairly generous.

    Cons

It's retail. No bonuses because I was technically part time even though I was working full time hours.

    Advice to Management

Don't hire new people and pay them more and let it be known to other employees.

    Pros

if you have the right team at your store the work will be enjoyable. There is occasional contests offered.

    Cons

Even if you meet your sales targets, are an overall asset to the company it is not likely you'll be promoted. Unfortunate dress code. Sometimes there was unprofessional workplace talk.

    Advice to Management

    Pros

Discount is good except you have to wear their jeans. There is normally a very fun work environment. Other than that, nothing.

    Cons

Salary managers required to work 6 days during holidays. If you work 40+ hours but only 4 days they'll dock your pay and refuse to pay you.

    Advice to Management

Care about your people and give work life balance.

I have been working at Guess? full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Learn quickly - Great team and meet fantastic contacts - heavy workload but worth it.

    Cons

They hired a new director of development, and it's quickly going down in moral, negative atmosphere , as they hired someone that has no idea how to run a department, factories are already complaining and our system has been slow down to bottle neck speed. At this point, myself and a few other are looking to elsewhere.

    Advice to Management

Please hire someone that can lead, someone that can bring our department to the next level - instead of someone that has made it almost impossible to push forward in anyway.

Messy management system. Company does not foster and nurture talent. Challenging upper management increases the chances of shortening your tenure. Management positions are always constantly handed out to the wrong employees.

    I worked at Guess? full-time

    Pros

    Paid Time Off
    Benefits
The amazing & talented colleagues you are able to work with (and learn from!)

    Cons

    Continuous changes in upper management
The new CEO makes terrible business decisions that affects the entire office
New CEO does not invents in his employees
Merchandise is TOO expensive for the current market
    Lack of Training new employees
    Lack of communication
    Favoritism
Long Hours (10-12 hour work days)
No promotions or raises in years since the company is suffering in North America
Upper management will only tell you what you want to hear so you don't leave
Location of Headquarters: next to a metal scrap place so you will most likely get a few flat tires every year
Parking lot is far from main entrance
Leadership lacks knowledge & the ability to come up with new ideas
Does not give hard-working employees recognition
Only gives small promotions when people threaten to leave
Upper management will transfer you to a different dept without asking you if its OK or if you even want to transfer
Too many "rules" (there is even a rule card you have to keep at your desk)
    Dictatorship

    Advice to Management

Delegate more so you can/will be available for your hard working teams
    Stop playing favorites
Invest in your people and they will stay
Give EVERYONE recognition for their hard work, not only the select few
Stop lying to employees, we are all adults and can handle the truth
When not 1 but 2 of your bosses leave the company on short notice... shouldn't you ask WHY?
