I have been working at Guidant Partners full-time

    Pros

Solid, positive work environment with a team that really helps each other out.
Great chance for broad IT experience and professional learning
Divisional leaders are total pros and good mentors
Day shift work with rare after-hours/weekends since clients are M-F 9-5 types
Management is proactive in addressing staffing shortfalls

    Cons

Growing companies experience growing pains - so peak demands are painful (but team works together to overcome).
Nashville IT talent demand makes it challenging to fill jobs quick enough

    Advice to Management

Keep growing staff, in both headcount and culture

I have been working at Guidant Partners full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    1) You learn a lot working at Guidant - Not only technical, but business related skills as well.
    2) Great management team that cares about your quality of life and co-workers that are like family. Have never felt like I was treated "unfairly".
    3) Fun place to work. Dress code recently became more relaxed and ping-pong table installed. Everyone meshes really well together.
    4) Team oriented environment. You will never feel alone working on an issue. There has never been a problem that could not be solved.

    Cons

Currently short handed on staffing which can make some days a bit more hectic. However, this has proven even more how well current employees work together.

    Advice to Management

    Keep communicating with employees.

I have been working at Guidant Partners full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Ability to learn all different aspects of IT instead of being pushed in to one area of expertise.
Be part of small company that actually cares about employees.
Work with group of seasoned IT personnel that are eager to teach newbies venturing in to the IT market.

    Cons

As with all small IT companies, finding candidates to fill IT roles is difficult.
Staff has to have the ability to wear multiple IT hats.

When companies are small, bringing in the wrong team member can cause stress in the core team. Former employees like to use this type of forum to steer potential candidates away instead of admitting that they did not fit in with team at GP.

    Advice to Management

Continue to keep team involved in decision making.
Always keep the Open Door policy currently in place.

I have been working at Guidant Partners full-time

    Pros

Lively and inclusive atmosphere. Management cares deeply about the quality of life of employees inside and outside of the business. Small but diverse staff. On the sales and marketing team, I've had the opportunity to shape and develop my job responsibilities to better include my natural talents.

    Cons

Work can fluctuate based on the needs of the clients- that's just the nature of this industry.
Can't seem to get the second stall in the ladies' bathroom fixed.

    Advice to Management

Continue investing in your employees as the future of your business. Also, fix the second stall in the ladies' bathroom already!

I have been working at Guidant Partners full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

-Day to Day is non-repetitive (meaning you will not sit and change passwords all day, one day you maybe in the office, the next day you maybe onsite doing a deployment)
-Clients are carefully selected upfront, so expectations are set correctly which makes supporting them pleasant
-Clients are spread across many industries so it is a great place to learn a lot quickly
-Staff, Management Team, and Owners are like family, they actually care about the people they work with and for them.
-The Team environment is amazing and no one is left hanging for an answer they cant solve
-Guidant Partners has really focused on making sure the culture in the company is comfortable and fun. They have company lunches and play games. Guidant has recently changed from business dress attire to more casual dress attire.
-Company has Christian Morals and has a Chaplain that comes and meets with each employee every Thursday

    Cons

-Like most IT jobs your day does not start at 8 and end at 5. Things do happen where you might have to work weekends, or after hours. The Management Team does a good job at compensating for those days.
-When new clients come on board there is sometimes a lack of communication on how to support which can cause frustration

    Advice to Management

Guidant Partners is a fun and enjoyable place to work. The changes Guidant has made this past year has made it an even more pleasant place to work. My only advice is to keep listening to your employees and continue to have open communication throughout the company.

I have been working at Guidant Partners full-time

    Pros

You will work in many environments with many techonlogies, learn fast or be overwhelmed! Engineers will teach you, their way or the highway!

    Cons

You will be over worked and under paid! You will not be in the clique unless you live and breathe Guidant Partners 24/7, and you will be treated well or not based on this devotion. If you are not the right wing conservative they are looking for then you will not be hired. Find another job in a different industry (not MSP) and you will have a fatter salary and less responsibility.

    Advice to Management

Pay your people! The CEO should not be the only one benefiting from a profitable company.

Most people have lives outside of work. Many of the management do not have much of a life outside of Guidant Partners. GET A LIFE!

I worked at Guidant Partners full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great Team to work with Engineers and fellow techs are fantastic

    Cons

Unrealistic work demands and no compensation for overtime which is expected. Rotating on call shifts on call 24x7 once a month with other techs.

Worklife balance is poor. Unless you are willing to eat sleep and breathe Guidant Partners the position is not worth it.

    Advice to Management

Allow for more off the phone and development time. The workload expected is too high. There is great talent in your organization however the cultural environment suppresses their ability to make suggestions. There are many ways of accomplishing a goal and there is never just one right answer. Just because it gets shot down by one engineer does not mean its a bad idea. Also work on a way to stream line processes. Tasks such as imaging computers should not be as time consuming as they are there. The tech department is poorly managed.

    Pros

The overall product is brilliant and revolutionary within its vertical. The challenge is educating people to understand the vision. There is a great overall team atmosphere across the different departments. The company has a great opportunity for large scalability.

    Cons

As with any small businesses there are limitations and frustrations. Nothing that couldn't be overcome with talented people that want to invest in a strong and growing company.

    Pros

Great environment to pick up a large set of skills. Many of the customers have pretty unique setups as far as hardware and software. You'll end up learning a lot! The environment isn't that bad as it is a small office and there isn't that much corporate hoopla.

    Cons

Extreme conservatism inside of the work place to the point where you are afraid to speak your views if they didn't mirror those who worked there. They sometimes lack hiring a good person and since it so small, that incompetent person can affect your daily routine and sanity greatly. I've heard improvements from people still there so I can only hope.

    Pay less than industry standards.

    Advice to Management

Don't be afraid to let those who work for you EXPAND instead of solely resting all high-level technical knowledge upon one person.
