    I worked at Guidewire full-time

    Pros

The company does promote a good work/life balance and there are certain groups that have a very good rapport.

    Cons

Title inflation is rampant and some groups have very little oversight, which leads to terrible middle management, especially in the finance org. Managers absolutely need to do a better job of being proactive about developing talent beneath them and they also need to have more oversight. Moreover, when participating in one of the acquisitions the company did I noticed that the whole process was incredibly disorganized compared to what I've seen elsewhere...this needs to be improved.

    Advice to Management

Hold people more accountable and increase oversight on middle management. Too many ad hoc groups that have no clear responsibilities.

I have been working at Guidewire full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

-In general, but mostly stemming from past practices, the company has a good culture at its heart.
-Hiring standards are high, so at the non management level there is little to no ineptitude. And a core of people that take pride in their work.

    Cons

-No strong direction. Constantly changing goals and priorities.
-Just bought a company with an identical product, a once on premise solution hoisted into the cloud.
-Current focus is on the agile process looking good on paper and the quarters looking good, not on the products looking good or working correctly.
-Slowly but surely many facets of the company are being offshored to new divisions in other countries.
-Groups generally seem disheartened. Work and priorities are decided between political battles of middle management.

    Pros

No bureaucracy, large portfolio to experience, many technologies to dive in, there is away the room for you to grow if you want to

    Cons

Few years ago, I rated with 5 starts. Now something is changing. Maybe the martinet of the operational expense. Maybe the speed of innovation...

    Advice to Management

Give more work life balance. More technology driven other than overhead on documentation, standards, guidelines, workflow

I worked at Guidewire full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Good Snacks, they send people to Ireland for doing the certification

    Cons

I cleared the first two certifications in Ireland and then after coming back to US I prepared for the last one. However, the team I had in my panel was very rude and while showing the demo I missed couple of things and they asked me to leave the company. I have tremendous track records in all the companies I have worked with and I am having 13 years of Development experience. As per Guidewire I was not fit enough to code so I was terminated.

    Advice to Management

nothing. Not a good company to work with. Sorry to say that there is no presence of senior management. Please give a cool, calm environment to the employees so that they can prove themselves.
