    Great company with bright future

    Pros

Guidewire has an excellent product portfolio and an extremely professional and motivated team of employees. The Guidewire leadership team under Mike Rosenbaum is trustworthy and passionate. Overall, the company's culture is impressively straightforward, open and friendly. At Guidewire, it's the best arguments and reasoning that matter. Most decisions are usually discussed independently of hierarchies and made in the spirit of reaching the best possible consensus. Rationality and factual reasoning are the backbone of Guidewire's culture, although they incorporate significant social topics, against a backdrop of political and public opinion. Guidewire provides excellent ongoing training programs that are available to every employee. In addition, Guidewire supports employee´s community involvement with up to 3 additional vacation days per year. During the Covit/ Corona period, Guidewire unbureaucratically ensured that all (!) employees received extra $ for home office equipment . In addition, a weekly fixed amount could be requested to pay for delivery services. Gift cards were also given to employees to invest in sporting equipment. It should also be mentioned that GW pays for health insurance and offers many additional benefits that significantly exceed what other companies provide for their employees. Salary at Guidewire is competitive and performance-based. Great performers are paid excellent salaries. Guidewire is, overall, a quite outstanding employer.

    Cons

Guidewire has been a little too busy with social issues lately. While this is very important, I think Guidewire has been exaggerating tranings, workshops and debates on BLM, LBTQ. It's important to keep addressing these issues, but at Guidewire you could sometimes get the impression that white skinned men in particula are the devil incarnate. So yes, no misunderstandings: Guidewire is a woke company, though in a good sense :-)

Exceptionally smart people with a rational approach to building insurance software

    Pros

Guidewire has some incredibly smart people on staff and the company has built some really great software. They listen to their customers about what the products are missing or could do better and iterate the products accordingly. Not a lot of bureaucracy - the basic principle is 'treat this as if it were your own money'. Your future is in your own hands at Guidewire - career growth and work/life balance.

    Cons

The lack of structure (see the pro: your future is in your hands) can be a hindrance to some folks, the company needs to be able to recognize these folks and help them along. The small company feel is rapidly dissipating but there is no real culture to replace it.

Hard working team that is stifled by poor management

    Pros

Exceptionally friendly team of professionals to work with. Everyone really cares about their job and their contribution to make Guidewire a leader in the insurance software space. Guidewire keeps its promises to its customers, so customer satisfaction is very high. The products are stellar and something you can be very proud to sell.

    Cons

Management has no formal training running a company of Guidewire's size and it shows. The founders needed to back out in 2008/09 and let more experienced hands guide the ship. The management team is full of political posturing and this effects team performance. Management in the marketing team is especially lacking with poor decision making, lack of follow-through and zero long term strategy. Sales whims drive all marketing efforts so nothing ever feels completed. Moral is very low among the ranks with respect to their view of management.

Best company I have ever worked for

    Pros

There are some exciting new opportunities as we work with more customers. Guidewire has a very bright future as the leading provider of solutions to the P&C Insurance industry

    Cons

As with most companies, change is an inevitable constant. As a public company management controls are becoming stricter which changes the feel of the company a little.

    Great company to work for!

    Pros

Leading edge technologies, friendly atmosphere, good benefits, competitive salaries. Management lets us feel how important one's job for Guidewire and I found it very enticing.

    Cons

Open space often causes the spread of cold so had to be careful and cautious. Free bagels and cream cheese: must use a lot of will power to avoid them.
