I worked at Gulf Interstate Engineering full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Absentee management (not micromanaging at all).

    Cons

Lowball wages, regular benefits and a revolving door as many others. Top heavy engineering firm with focus on the top management... every other employee considered secondary and expendable.

    Advice to Management

Better attempt to avoid turnaround, like better salaries, better facilities and better employee inclusion programs... maybe see what was done in 2007 (or whenever it was) when it was awarded a best places to work in and repeat it...

I worked at Gulf Interstate Engineering

    Pros

    Some nice and friendly staff

    Cons

Micro managed environment even had to report bathroom time. Middle management doesn't have much knowledge in the field and is not fit for the role...bad training and tend to blame others for mistakes. Unreasonably let go of people.

    Advice to Management

    Hire and promote qualified people

I worked at Gulf Interstate Engineering full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Kid friendly environment, good Day Care facilities in Project Services. Cheap Day Care for long time employees, cheapest Day Care in Harris County. Highly recommend.

    Cons

If you like working with the Managements kids you will like GIE. Many departments are now nothing more than a body shop struggling to keep Resources employed.

    Advice to Management

Stop hiring your kids and your kids friends. They are spoiled snowflakes that do not listen to anyone.

    Pros

Good Benefits including matching 401K and excellent PTO. Good leadership teams who have been developed from within. Good office facilities and work atmosphere is a plus.

    Cons

New work opportunities are needed. New Board of Directors has caused some uncertainty which needs to be addressed.

    Advice to Management

Continue to communicate to the workforce as open communications are needed.
