I worked at GulfMark Offshore full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Really enjoyed crews and coworkers. Equipment was well maintained and clean.

    Cons

Big difference between corporate and region management. Seasoned leadership at corporate but regional leadership was not professional. Local office almost nonexistent.

    Advice to Management

Professional and experienced management needed at regional level.

    Positive Outlook

I have been working at GulfMark Offshore full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The company is good at business, and they will survive the current downturn in the oilfield. They reward loyalty, and seniority accordingly. Opportunities to advance.

    Cons

They treat their sailors a bit indifferently, management doesn't really want to hear about personal issues, or plans. Be ready when they call you to come to work, and when you want to get off, be patient.

    Advice to Management

Improve communications between office and seagoing personnel. Make your seagoing personnel feel heard, and be more considerate to personal needs and plans.

    Pros

they would always do their best to find coverage if you needed time off for coast guard or required classes

    Cons

They did not ever pay for your travel to and from the port. they cut pay un announced during the height of the oilfield slow down.

    Advice to Management

If you are going to cut day rates, it shouldn't become active until the end of that persons hitch. Its not like they can quit and swim 120 nautical miles home.

I worked at GulfMark Offshore full-time

    Pros

I never had and issues with the office personel and once you finally get on a boat that dont have any problems with the rest of the crew everything for the most part flows smoothly. With a two year contract they will pay for they schooling you need to ugrade your license.

    Cons

The captains have to much power and are treated better then other employees. Then there are a lot employees that only try to make themselves look good and will try to get you fired at all cost in order to make this happen. Also captains will lie to the office to get you fired or switched to another boat if they find a single reason they dont like you. Too many really strange employees.

    Advice to Management

HR needs to actually interview people they are hiring way to many people get hired because they know someone or because they licenses they have.

    Cons

    Advice to Management

Interview candidates, communicate with employees, get a new HR manager.

    Advice to Management
