I worked at Gulfstream full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Builds great quality aircrafts. Potential for future growth is somewhat certain. Was once a great family oriented type of workplace

    Cons

Process elimination of older, sickly and minorities workers. Favors younger temps cause it cuts cost and adds to cheap labor. Unfair wrongful termination of righteous workers but keeps those who don't contribute to the company.

    Advice to Management

Leave personal prejudices at home and not let it affect your job and decision making abilities.

I have been working at Gulfstream full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Decent pay for the Savanah, GA area. Benefits are so/so and align with most other local companies. Savannah is kinda nice.

    Cons

The good ole boy network is alive and well here. Unless you know someone you can forget about any upward movement. It doesn't matter how much effort you put into going above and beyond what is required, you are not rewarded in any way. Mediocrity is paramount at this company. Management is not open to change which throws innovation completely out he window. The "just keep it running" mentality brought on by leadership makes this company a bore to work for. I would recommend staying away from this company at all costs.

    Advice to Management

Bring in new talent who can change the direction of company and listen to them. Employees are an asset and without them you have nothing.

I have been working at Gulfstream full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Pros to working here is good pay for the region/ good pay for low skill-talent. Very slowwwww working environment. If you know somebody that works here and was born in this region, you'll have a good future here. If you're okay with mediocrity than this company is for you.

    Cons

Nepotism. The good old boy network. Advancement opportunities are quickly slowed to a halt. I am near the top of advancement without going into Mgmt. No where else to go as the company is cutting pay to jobs which previously paid at a higher scale. Company makes excuses for not giving raises. Hard work doesn't get rewarded. Rationality and common sense are not a virtue here, there's no sense of change in thinking here.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your honest hard workers, get rid of riff raff drama spreaders whom don't provide productive output, get feedback from your own objective analysis and observations than subordinates whom have hidden objectives. Do your own early evaluations of workers knowledge, skills, and abilities; and position them in the appropriate position to match for fairness to those whom are more deserving. Put more weight on performance of knowledge, skills, and abilities rather than what is on worker's resumes/ work history. FYI: Spoiler Alert! There are a lot of fake-it-to-make-it employees here.

I worked at Gulfstream full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Salary and benefits are ok, they tend to stay in line with like industries.

    Cons

You are tied to your iphone day and night. Leaders will email and call at all hours over simple things. Ideas and new ways of setting up systems and processes are not welcome by leadership. If it is not their solution or idea it will not move forward. Too many meetings and when you have a job charge to put in job charges you know something is not right about the place. The culture is not there for innovation. Too many people stay for less than 2 years and jump because of the micromanagement.

    Advice to Management

You have been doing surveys for 10 years and the numbers have not changed. Try and comprehend what your employees are telling you.

I have been working at Gulfstream full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Typical benefits for the industries.

    Cons

Gulfstream is the only employer in the area for skilled aerospace workers, as is evidenced in the horrible way they treat employees. I've never been more micromanaged, and treated so badly in my career. Gulfstream says they want to improve the skill level of their employees, but we are not rewarded for showing initiative, quite the opposite. The locals love "getting on at Gulfstream", but good luck retaining top aerospace talent from other areas of the country. Gulfstream has a serious culture issue that will only be changed by making some changes in senior leadership. The old timers are never going to embrace the efficiencies that could be gained by utilizing technologies that have come about in this century because it threatens their empires.

    Advice to Management

This place is the definition of the Peter Principle - google it.

I worked at Gulfstream full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Pay and conditions are relatively good for the local area. Most of the facilities are modern and well equipped. Main Plant is showing it's age.

    Cons

Old style management and practices, the old boy network is highly evident. Without a doubt the most siloed work environment I have ever encountered with no concept of matrix organization or work methods. Very weak in most areas.

    Advice to Management

It's pointless to go out and recruit change agents if there is no intention to change the way of doing business. Save the money and recruit from within.

    Cons

I worked at Gulfstream full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Excellent benefits and a great place to meet new people if you're new to Savannah, otherwise I can't think of many other pros based on my experience.

    Cons

No apparent strategy from Leadership, just do more, do it faster and sell more planes. Majority of management prefers you just "check the box" instead of making an effort to change/improve. This company is the definition of the good ole boy network with a very clear glass ceiling for women and minorities. Unless you have relatives in high places, don't plan on finding much opportunity for advancement. Pay is mediocre, salaried employees still essentially clock in and out, work is mundane for most positions and very few managers seem to give 2 cents about their employees.

    Advice to Management

I wouldn't even know where to start.

    Pros

Work / life balance. Pay and benefits.

    Cons

Management is in the stone age. Product Support leadership is clueless and rewards people for sleeping on the job and time card fraud. However, those who have proved their worth are laid-off because we are making the most money and they lack the balls to layoff the worthless people because they are scared of being sued! They totally ruined my life and family after working there for 20 years. One day I was there, the next I was in the unemployment line.

    Advice to Management

Your time is coming! the Lord works in mysterious ways. Karma can be a real pain!
