I have been working at Guru Studio full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Started off as a great place to work. Talented co-workers. Relaxed environment. Benefits package. Located in a good part of the city for restaurants. Majority of supervisor are excellent, approachable without the egos.

    Cons

The majority of artists and supervisors are talented professions. However there are a few exceptions that are seriously affecting moral. In particular, one of the supervisors goes around bad-mouthing other crew members and supervisors behind their back, never to the targets face. I have witnessed this many times. He will also blame others when things go wrong but take credit when things go well. His department is far...

    Advice to Management

Realize that some people play politics. Don't listen to the poison. Go down to the floor more often and talk to the artists. You might be surprised.

I have been working at Guru Studio

    Pros

This is a studio that prides itself on creating quality work and having the best shows to produce. This makes it a great place to be. Creativity is encouraged on all levels especially to find your place to thrive. They promote from within -and carefully- to get the right (experienced) people leading the crews. And they throw GREAT parties!

    Cons

Sometimes we're too busy. And the snacks disappear fast when it's cookie day.

I have been working at Guru Studio

    Pros

Guru focus and push for an outstanding final look, distinguishing it from the usual factory chain's style productions. Even an experienced artist can have the chance to improve the own artistic skills, to fit the studio's standards, and embracing new technologies in order to overcome challenges in our shows. It's a dynamic work environment. Guru work on cartoons that are translated into toys and are successful and famous...

    Cons

Small kitchen space, though many restaurants nearby, even healthy choices available. Lack of sick room or phone room. Challenges in growing from small to big studio, always evolving. We don't have (yet) a music night.

    Advice to Management

Making more frequent streaming of the final projects (even simply in loco). As the studio grow and we are located on different floors, we may need more ways to introduce key people to the rest of the studio, in order to allow a better flow of ideas and communication.

I have been working at Guru Studio full-time for more than a year

    Pros

The people are phenomenal. Guru provides an atmosphere where your input is encouraged. They host classes that support cumulative knowledge and actively seek out ideas from within, facilitating growth for artists. The projects are exciting and fun and they seem to be diversifying on what they take on. This studio wins awards, from its staff to its projects for good reason. They are always pushing to do more, bigger and...

    Cons

Big studio spread across three different floors makes it hard to get to know everyone and is a challenge to find people. Projects sometimes take an long time to get completed, lots of approvals needed can bog down creativity.

    Advice to Management

    Communicate more.

I have been working at Guru Studio

    Pros

I've worked at Guru for 10 years and received many raises, promotions and opportunities. Excellent stability, fair pay, benefits, awesome projects, endless opportunities, great people, fun events.

    Cons

Do I have to write something? I can't think of any cons so here's your twenty word minimum, there it is indeed.

    Disapproves of CEO

I have been working at Guru Studio

    Pros

A young group of people with a lot of talent, it's nice to be around other creative people. Benefits are decent.

    Cons

Even if I've signed a year contract I still feel uncertain and unsafe, like I could be let go at any moment because they do things to help themselves and not the people who are actually working to make their shows. One of the producers is very abrasive and any interaction with her leaves you feeling defeated. She has a way of making you feel like you are in the wrong just for making a suggestion or saying something...

    "Not bad"

    Positive Outlook

I have been working at Guru Studio for more than 3 years

    Pros

    - more easy going, less corporate than some other big studios - relaxed atmosphere, friendly people - room to move up, seniority doesn't play a big role

    Cons

    - salaries are a bit less competitive - some growing pains as they become bigger and bigger - some key departments in the backend deserve more resources than what they are currently receiving

    Advice to Management

Try to have people who can oversee multiple projects and bring more unity to the studio. Separate projects feel like separate studios at times. Run into the same problems that have probably been solved on other projects. Need to bring that knowledge base together. Find your superstars, and fight tooth and nail to keep them around. Some superstars can output 2x as much as a mediocre employee.
