I have been working at Gustave A. Larson Company full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Some fun personalities, pays better than standard retail (department stores, clothing)

    Cons

Management does not care about the employees at all and just gets in the way. Our technology is disturbingly antiquated. We are underpaid and well underappreciated for our efforts.

    Advice to Management

Take care of your employees. They are far more capable than you think, and they deserve better. A lot of the ones I know have given up because they're so worn down.

    Pros

    Nice people to work with.

    Cons

Pay was horrible, always wanted more hours from employees without pay.

    Advice to Management

Owners buy/build giant houses, buy vinyards, take lots of vacations, while employees work to keep things above water.

    Pros

    Good benefits and time off.

    Cons

Local manager makes for a hostile work environment. Good at what he does but no people skills or training management.

    Advice to Management

Employees should be sent to training.

I worked at Gustave A. Larson Company full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Considering the size and muliple locations, you get the feeling you are working for a small family owned company - which makes sense. I felt like I worked closely with each and every team member. Everyone gives 100% for the company and the customers.

    Cons

Low salaries and high cost for employee share of benefits.

    Advice to Management

Your employees are hard working and make the company successful. You can never show too much appreciation.

I worked at Gustave A. Larson Company full-time

    Pros

For being such a big company, they do a good job in treating their employees well. Generally speaking the personnel at corporate as well as branches are friendly and approachable. The owners of the company are extremely kind, caring and surprisingly genuine--was never afraid to spark up a conversation with them.

    Cons

Benefits aren't the greatest but would say fairly average in today's economy. Values of the company are outlined well, however they seemed to rarely ever be enforced. I never felt empowered or motivated to come to work or give it my best.

    Advice to Management

Better communication and a clear outline of what is expected from each employee. Provide more resources in the training process. Make your employees feel important and valued; for every constructive criticism back it up with some positive reinforcement.

I started with GA Larson right out of Tech School 25 + years ago. I had goals when I started with this company and they helped me achieve them. Larson is a very stable, family owned company that is more than willing to listen and help you grow in this industry.

    Cons

    Do not have any Cons.
