I have been working at Gwinnett Medical Center full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Compensation, team oriented staff and supportive coworkers.

    Cons

Benefits are subpar, health insurance is horrible it is very much like having catastrophic insurance. Hard to move from one area of nursing to another within hospital system managers will band together and block you from transfer.

    Advice to Management

For better retention of employees for the company as a whole allow current employees to transfer to different areas of nursing if desired .

I worked at Gwinnett Medical Center full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

You have some very knowledge base Physicians. They don't mind teaching you the new procedures.

    Cons

You don't have anyone to talk to, that would be willing to leson if you have a problem. And Hr. Is the worst group of people to take any concerns to. They don't try and see what needs to be corrected. They just pass you off like it's nothing.

    Advice to Management

Go away and never come back!!!!!

I have been working at Gwinnett Medical Center full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great organization to be associated with. I have been an associate for almost a year and have loved every minute of it. I would recommend to anyone looking to be involved in student learning, career transition or coming out of the military. Nice place to land with stability and family atmosphere at the core.

    Cons

If you like to be a loner and do not wish to interact with your coworkers may not be the best place for you.. As everyone is very involved with their coworkers. They do not pry they just provide lots of support.

    Advice to Management

Maintain this organic culture-- do not let it slip away.

    Pros

Nice patients who are usually very thankful for your help. The workload is also not bad at all. I usually have plenty of time left after I get all of the work done. There is good communication between the day and night shifts and the techs work as a team.

    Cons

The pay is very low. Maybe I didn't negotiate with HR well but my pay is so low that it makes me not want to work full time there. I felt some tension between RNs and Techs. Some Rns are very friendly and nice but others are kind of stand offish and treat you like their employees. Its not too bad tho. Also, the techs can't really do much, which makes me feel like I'm being underutilized.

    Advice to Management

Review the Tech and RN dynamic and come up with a plan to promote greater collaboration between them.
