I worked at Gymboree Play and Music part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

If you want a job where the hours are very flexible, being a teacher's assistant for birthday parties is great.

The people are nice and when you get tipped you make twice what you would otherwise.

Easy job, helps you learn customer service

    Cons

Sometimes you don't get tipped at the party but that's not the companies fault, just the people who are having the parties.

Also can be difficult to usher party guests out when their party is over and the next one is about to start

    Advice to Management

    Keep it up!

I worked at Gymboree Play and Music part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Flexible hours. All of the staff are so nice and help you during your training to make it less overwhelming. Lots of experience with all ages including the youngest of children and oldest of adults. Definitely a great first time job.

    Cons

I used to work one hour less than the required time to get a lunch so they didn’t tell me I could go for lunch so that sucked but it wasn’t that bad

I have been working at Gymboree Play and Music part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The owner of the Westfield location is fabulous. She has been with Gymboree a long time, so she is very smart. Its a great family environment, and the other people who work there are super nice. The owner is lenient, and will try to accomodate if you need to pick up kids from school, or go to a doctors appointment.

    Cons

There are only a few employees, so a lot of responsibility is put on the individual employees. Taking time off is hard, because we don't always have someone to cover our classes. The owner can also be nit picky over seemingly simple mistakes (forget to clean something, or take the garbage out, etc). There aren't any benefits to the job money wise, and you will definitely feel underpaid sometimes.

    Advice to Management

    Hire more people.

    Pros

The children and families are amazing. It’s extremely fulfilling work.

    Cons

The owner in Pittsburgh (Jana Clay) is awful and should be avoided at all costs. She treats her employees like garbage.

    Advice to Management

    Be better. Care about people.
