I have been working at Gymboree part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Getting a paycheck even though it will be very very small

    Cons

Ridiculous goals, way too much work, stress and responsibility for a part time low paying sales job.

    Advice to Management

You cannot expect 110% from your workers when you refuse to give them enough hours to complete sales and tasks, you say no tasking during business hours focused on sales but don't give us any extra hours outside of store hours to task what are you stupid?! How can we help customers when you send us 10 emails a day with different information and numbers you want sent to you immediately. You all suck at your job and you are scrambling because the company is going down in flames and make happy.

I have been working at Gymboree part-time

    Pros

Great quality clothing with some great deals for Reward holders

    Cons

Heavy work load, hard to focus on customer service, too many New Line sets back to back

    Advice to Management

Better planning, don't buy so many pieces, and online and other store's returns should not count against the store taking the return

I worked at Gymboree part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The communication between stores in the district is excellent. The stores are very family oriented in a way and they promote from within. The customers and children are always fun. You'll see a lot of regulars there.

    Cons

They do require a lot with the limited amount of hours that they give you and end up wasting a lot of them due to middle of the day sale changes. In my location, the training could have been better. I was taught basic procedures, but as far as company operational policies and such I learned on my own through their files on their software or by calling other stores and asking their managers. I felt that the district manager didn't know or didn't care to see what was going on in my location. Sales were down a lot and there was a huge lack of supervision from the store manager. She would often get credit for the things that I did. I had to report a few things to my DM that would be grounds for termination, yet that never happened. The company does waste a lot on shipping product stores aren't selling and not enough on things that stores need. They need to change how they allocate merchandise. Customers love Gymboree and theirs a chance to turn the company around, they just need to be much more organized and mindful of what actually goes on in the business and with their employees.

    Advice to Management

Be a lot more organized and hold bad employees accountable for poor performance or actually termination their employment.

I have been working at Gymboree part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

I love the work environment, it is so fun and friendly. My coworkers have become some of my closest friends. Not to mention that the products we sell are of such amazing quality and they are for the most part so cute I want to die.

    Cons

In my time here, I've been under two different store managers and both have had terrible management skills and have no idea what they are doing. The company as a whole doesn't give us anywhere near enough hours to get the job done that we need to, or they require us to allocate hours to places that they are not actually needed. Not to mention the fact that the company has repeatedly filed bankruptcy, kind of makes my job feel rather unstable. Also we only get a 25% discount which is nice, but compared to what employees get at other stores, it could certainly be better.

    Advice to Management

Ask for input from the retail stores, so much of the product that is sent to us won't sell and we know that because we know our customers.

    I worked at Gymboree full-time

    Pros

The clothes are cute and the employee discount is good on regular priced products.

    Cons

Upper Management is clueless as to what it actually takes to run a successful store on a day to day basis.

    Advice to Management

Open your eyes to the extreme limitations you provide your store managers with.
