Working holidays and weekends, however for retail, they do encourage a work like balance.

    I worked at H E B full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

-Good pay if you stick with the company
    -Some great co-workers
    -A couple great managers
    -Overnight means minimal human interaction

    Cons

-Fake people abound, as well as are promoted on quality of lip-service provided and amount of snitching on people it seems.
-Pace of work is ridiculous and likely unsafe, 55 cases/hr company standard and 60 cases/hr store standard. If you deviated expect to get a talking to.
-Inappropriate interaction between management and staff, he outright walked off multiple times when a co-worker was greeting him or trying to engage him. He had his subordinate listing off as many violations of procedure as he could on a daily basis.
-Lack of communication between management. One would say one thing and the other would contradict it.
-Meth. Lots of meth going on out here and the management was doing its fair share. Obvious really.
    -Lack of advancement opportunities.
    -Cranky management.

    Advice to Management

Lay off the stimulants some, it makes you jumpy and irritable not to mention its bad for your health. Don't walk away from your employees or ignore their kind gestures just because you don't like them. Saw that personally a number of times. Stop working people so hard if you're unwilling to pay them accordingly, unrealistic expectations on workload. Provide opportunities for advancement, listen to your employees concerns.

    I worked at H E B (More than a year)

    Pros

Great place to work for if you're a college student in need of a job.
Also a great way to save on groceries and eat well!

    Cons

If you're working in any department that requires heavy lifting (like the 55lbs requirement on their job description) - chances are you'll feel drained of energy when you get off work.

You could put it as a pro that you'd get some exercise out of it. I know I did!

    Advice to Management

None, but thank you for being a very approachable!

    I worked at H E B part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

When the people in charge care they make the experience of working there better. They also have events and things for partners to make them feel like a part of the company.

    Cons

They hire with degrees and not experience. For low level jobs I understand but if you're in charge of a department of people and don't know how to do their job there is something wrong there.

    Advice to Management

Continue making partners feel like more than a number. Hire/Promote from within when possible.
