I have been working at H&M full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

I have worked with H&M for almost 5 years. It is a great place to work, not an easy place to work. The pace of retail is fast and you need to react quickly and think creatively to meet the demands of the customer. The Company makes genuine efforts to care for its employees. At H&M USA we have medical and dental benefits that are best in class... and these are extended to all employees.

    Cons

The Company runs lean and so sometimes it can feel like there aren't enough resources assigned to a specific department or project. This is also a pro in that it forces you to think creatively!

    I worked at H&M full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

H&M has really good benefits for full-time retail employees. I had great health/dental plans, and paid vacation time. Managers were professional and good.

    Cons

The work is often tedious. Particularly working the floor and the fitting room. Running go-backs is absolutely brutal, because shoppers are messy.

    Advice to Management

Find ways to make the work more consistently variable, and find ways to praise and reward individual employees more often, so they feel a sense of progression.

Fast pace, always busy, a lot of lifting, drama, painting, cleaning up after customers, doing more then your job title

    I worked at H&M part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The managers and the employees make you feel very welcome. They help you out , and show you the ropes , and they don't sugar coat anything. It's like a second family. You move up if you show your manager you are serious about your job.

    Cons

They really don't work around your schedule, it's impossible to put the days you need off, if you go to school and have a family or have to take care of your self or a relative

    Advice to Management

Everyone one has their own issues out side of work. I feel as a Manager you should respect your employees and not be harsh on them when they have a problem with themselves, family members and their school work. We understand that we made a commitment to our jobs, but our family help and wellbeing is more important.

I have been working at H&M full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Family oriented. Totally diverse. I could dye my hair purple and have piercings and the company doesn't care. They believe in people...not their looks.

    Cons

Lack of training for the next position. No real growth in management.

    Advice to Management

Train your lower managers. The more they know, the more they can help! There is nothing worse than a stagnant employee
