I have been working at H&M full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

H&M gives their employees to join the team with the ability to grow. A lot of employers seek externally prior to looking for talent within, however H&M believes in the internals to be the future leaders first

    Cons

Work life balance could be slightly difficult...it is retail. However the company offers a great vacation package which fills in for that void of a possible crazy schedule.

-Little to no guidelines regarding uniform

    Cons

-Absolutely no interaction with the customer what so ever
-Emphasis on speed of work rather than quality of work

-Hour expenditure only goes from one extreme to the other

    I worked at H&M full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good pay, great benefits, health insurance, paid birthday off, generous vacation days for full timers.

    Cons

As with many companies, it comes down to management. Specifically, corporate management. They come down hard on store management who then come down harder on you. Also, it's too difficult to get promoted based on work ethic. Their promotion system is flawed. You essentially have to train yourself for the position you want but due to your current daily duties and the constant flow of customers, it's practically impossible to find time do this. This causes a very strong feeling of discouragement with sales advisors and you feel like you're never moving forward. If you're lucky, a manager/visual will pick you as their "favorite" and pull you aside to shadow them.

    Advice to Management

Less favoritism. People shouldn't have to live and breathe the company to get noticed. If you're going to expect sales advisors to train themselves, then give them more space and less time consuming duties. It's impossible to train yourself as a visual when you have to watch the fitting room, ring out customers, and fold down tables. Too many empty promises to hard working employees.

    Pros

There are plenty of work benefits offered to employees. The company values both work and home life and does its very best to balance both. Everyone is very friendly and will always lend a helping hand.

    Cons

So far I have not experienced any major cons. The only con is that weekend are mandatory, but you do recieve one weekend off a month.

    I worked at H&M full-time

    Pros

Some lovely people work for this company, unfortunately they are completely outnumbered and unappreciated by unpleasant ones.

    Cons

The problems within stores lay squarely with Area Office and Head Office, their unrealistic, bullying, and rude attitude affected everyone.
Unrealistic delivery targets for delivery, expecting everyone to stay until the store was perfectly tidy after a herd of teenagers had spent the day trashing the store ( Management practically lived there and must of been on minimum wage when their hours/ pay were taken into account).
The Area Teams visits were dreaded by everyone, no matter how tidy the store, how much you followed the guidelines, even how much profit the store was making, they would trudge in, ( always in packs) and tear the team apart like a bunch of hyenas. It was horrendous. Totally de motivating. They should be ashamed of themselves and the company should be questioning why the Managers were leaving in droves.
A worse working environment is difficult to imagine, and I am so glad I am no longer working there.

    Advice to Management

To store Managers that are unhappy, leave, there are much better jobs out there where you will be appreciated.
To Area Team, you are completely destroying your store teams
To Head Office, your Managers and Department Managers are leaving and when several Managers from the same area leave you should be wondering why.

    - always multiple deals for employees
    - clothes can be returned if it's on sale
-coworkers are a great team willing to help a lot
-willing to give hours to employees

    Cons

    - the store is always a mess at the end of the day therefore late nights cleaning. sometimes we don't finish
    - it's always busy
    -some managers can be rude
-if you are looking for promotions within the store... look elsewhere

I have been working at H&M part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The team is amazing and supportive. You will never have any trouble meeting friends at H&M

    Cons

They can fire casuals at will just because the store is not reaching budget. You can be nervous about keeping your job anytime the store isn't busy.

    Advice to Management

Balance the amount of 'permanent' casuals you hire. Remain loyal.
