    I worked at H&M full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good pay, great benefits, health insurance, paid birthday off, generous vacation days for full timers.

    Cons

As with many companies, it comes down to management. Specifically, corporate management. They come down hard on store management who then come down harder on you. Also, it's too difficult to get promoted based on work ethic. Their promotion system is flawed. You essentially have to train yourself for the position you want but due to your current daily duties and the constant flow of customers, it's practically impossible to find time do this. This causes a very strong feeling of discouragement with sales advisors and you feel like you're never moving forward. If you're lucky, a manager/visual will pick you as their "favorite" and pull you aside to shadow them.

    Advice to Management

Less favoritism. People shouldn't have to live and breathe the company to get noticed. If you're going to expect sales advisors to train themselves, then give them more space and less time consuming duties. It's impossible to train yourself as a visual when you have to watch the fitting room, ring out customers, and fold down tables. Too many empty promises to hard working employees.

    -discounts (25%)
-ico 15% if you donate clothes
    - always multiple deals for employees
    - clothes can be returned if it's on sale
-coworkers are a great team willing to help a lot
-willing to give hours to employees

    Cons

    - the store is always a mess at the end of the day therefore late nights cleaning. sometimes we don't finish
    - it's always busy
    -some managers can be rude
-if you are looking for promotions within the store... look elsewhere

    Advice to Management

-coach mangers/supervisors not to play favorite...it's obvious. No need to yell at employees for mistakes. There are better ways to correct and give feedback.

So far I have not experienced any major cons. The only con is that weekend are mandatory, but you do recieve one weekend off a month.

    I worked at H&M full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Good Benefits, Good On-Boarding Experience

    Cons

Not age diverse, Store Management played favorites based on personality and not necessarily by performance.

    Advice to Management

Make adjustments to expectations as it relates to pacing when employing someone over 40. Don't always rely on the Store Manager to tell you what's going on. Do skip level interviews. You would be amazed by what you find out.

    Pros

Learned a lot, from merchandising, to fashion. Loved the experience of learning what goes well with what. I enjoyed the coworkers and the environment.

    Cons

Lack of leadership. People with no experience of leading people; leading people to make a store prosper. Many problems with the unrealistic expectations for certain tasks and just plain, oblivious to the situation of is the staff happy. Why care about numbers when you bottom of the pyramid aren't even happy to get you those numbers or to work hard for the store.

    Advice to Management

Be humble, or don't take a management position, you're definitely not ready or fit for it. A lot of people don't have the skill set overall to conduct a business smoothly and to have a great long lasting relationship with your staff. Just don't do this for money, in the long run, you'll just crash and burn.

    I worked at H&M part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

the discount? maybe. I can't think of pros with this job. Except the initial hourly wage was better than the minimum wage.

    Cons

They had this whole thing about growing within the company. I was with this company a little over 4 years, and I had constantly been telling them that I am interested in being a full timer. They constantly told me I needed to be developed, yet they never scheduled me to get developed. It was frustrating. I was stuck not being able to grow or get a better raise. Towards the end of my employment, I was put in charge of the stockroom and our shipments. It was stressful and most of the time my hard work was never appreciated, didn't even get a raise or anything. I was constantly belittled by one manager who accused me of not doing things when I indeed did. Another thing would be that the managers were never on the same page. One manager would tell you to do something a certain way, and then you do it in front of another manager and then would get scolded for it.

    Advice to Management

Be on the same page, actually develop your employees!
