I have been working at HARMAN full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Richardson, TX location has a great atmosphere and good people working there for now.

    Cons

Massive layoffs just occurred, and there seems to be no direction provided from the management team. Seems as if the Sales Management team doesn't communicate with the Engineering Management team resulting in continuing lack of clear direction.

    Advice to Management

Laying engineering people off to reduce costs will result no support for current products and no release of new products in the near term. This will eventually lead to unhappy customers. If the management team doesn't start leading with a clear direction, those customers will never come back to Harman/AMX products.

I have been working at HARMAN full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The culture and the benefits are fairly good in comparison with other tech companies. Lots of opportunities to bring in changes and improvements. Good learning experience overall. Employees are given Harmon products at huge discounts.

    Cons

Things change too fast all of a sudden. Two month back they were hiring people and now they are looking to consolidate the site locations and laying off people. Yet to see the impact of samsung acquisition. Professional Solutions division is performing very poorly.

I have been working at HARMAN full-time

    Pros

Flexibility (some groups more than others)
    Innovation is encouraged
    Company encourages recognition
    Org is growing

    Cons

Work/Life balance is hard to find
Seems like too many people are balancing too much work
Cross-team communication can be difficult with such a large company

    Advice to Management

Growth is great and exciting, but it's difficult when you can't leave the office on time or find time for your vacation days because there's so much to do and not enough team members to share the load.
