I have been working at HBS Systems full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Nice office with company lunches, events, unlimited PTO policy. Very family friendly, relaxed atmosphere. It's nice to work for a company that takes pride in what they do.

    Cons

Smaller company so advancement opportunities don't come up as often.

I have been working at HBS Systems full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Company provided fresh fruit daily and lunches from time to time. If you are one of the favorites, you can do whatever you want.

    Cons

Management is very cliquish and if you are not one of the favorites, you will be treated poorly. A blind eye is turned to abusive behavior on a regular basis.

Company policy of "unlimited PTO" is used as a lure to hire new employees but every minute used is held against you unless you are in a position of power while there is no acknowledgement for extra time worked.

Salaries are not up to industry standard and not much if any room for advancement.

    Advice to Management

Treat your employees with a little respect and put a stop to the bullying by some of your management so that the good people that you have will stay with the company.

    Pros

HBS has better employees and customers than it deserves.

    Cons

Abusive management that prefer to instill fear of job loss to get things done. No room for advancement do to the nepotism that is holding the company back.

    Advice to Management

Take care of your employees and start paying them what they are worth before you have no more staff left to take care of your customers.

I worked at HBS Systems full-time

    Pros

Good bunch of people. Great opportunity for entry IT pepole to grow into server admin, software support and network support roles.

    Cons

No headroom to grow within the company. Salaries are less than competitive. They prefer to hire inexperienced staff for bottom dollar and train them up.

    Advice to Management

Pay your managers and valuable support reps what they're worth. I saw a few people who were great company assets walk away because they weren't being fairly compensated, and the turmoil that it caused wasn't worth the savings.

I worked at HBS Systems full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Come and go as you please...but only after you befriend certain people. Lots of chaos. No structure. No documentation. No faithfulness to loyal employees. Bathrooms are clean. I wouldmy recommend this place to anyone. Even those I hate. It's too mean.

    Cons

You should really only apply here as a last resort. This place is run by people who don't know what they are doing. I belive this place will crater soon through financial issues. They still use technology that was outdated in the mid 90's.

    Advice to Management

Quit acting like you know everything. You have been saved by the stubborn customers you have. Not because you have a good product.

    Cons

    Small company, processes need improvement.

    Pros

Easy to find a parking space and one of the 2 elevators is usually working.

    Cons

Poor career development - no defined career paths and very limited company sponsored outside training.
Nowhere to advance to..only a very few senior management positions, and they are not going anywhere.
Slow to keep up with technology - the technology world is advancing much faster than this small company can.
Inability to advance careers causes "A" players with options to leave company, leaving behind a concentration of lesser skilled staff members.
Employment offers can be less than truthful - be sure to ask for proof of recent compensations before signing on.
1960's perception of race and gender roles - ladies be prepared to clean the kitchen while the men go out for a smoke.

    Advice to Management

Bring in some really accomplished and talented C Level executives that have experienced the world outside of the HBS bubble. Paying for really smart people and letting them have a voice is how the top companies in the world operate...some of these companies have accomplished greatness in less time than HBS has achieved mediocrity.
