I worked at HCA Virginia full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great coworkers who are invested in treatment of patients and have been there for a long time
If you are willing to stay long term the benefit options are good
Direct supervision and management is wonderful
1:1 Patient care is a must in order to provide any kind of quality care in this setting and most of the time you are allowed that as a therapist

    Cons

Upper management has a poor understanding of rehab day to day activity, appropriate patients and required staffing to ensure quality care always trying to squeeze out that last dollar or FIM point gain over what is right for patient
Limitations with communication and teamwork between nursing and therapy

I worked at HCA Virginia full-time

    Pros

Supportive coworkers, helping people in crisis, not micromanaged.

    Cons

Under staffed, pay could be better, holidays / time off are not consistent between case managers, feel like your voice does not matter, if you're a good worker you will be over worked.

    Advice to Management

Listen to the staff providing direct care, listen, listen, listen, and listen. Be open and honest, LISTEN, LISTEN, provide the staff needed

Solutions to existing problems need to be realistic. HCA is corporate driven with facilities nationwide. Not all healthcare challenges can be solved with the same approach.
