I worked at HCL Technologies (More than a year)

    Pros

Looks after employees. They policy of treating employees better than they treat customers is great. This is why the employee love working for them.

    Cons

Works at a snails pace. Sometime things get thrown into bureaucratic stages and take long time to be sorted.

    Advice to Management

When you come up with a plan to implement something follow it through to its logical conclusion instead of leaving it half way.

I have been working at HCL Technologies as a contractor (More than a year)

    Pros

SImple objective setting - although complex in totallity, support for reasoning, and understanding when a 1 week request took 2 weeks due to amount of work involved. Professional.

    Cons

Several changes of manager, but all with the same professional training, so only had to learn the new name as the mannerisms and systems stayed the same.

    Advice to Management

    Keep it up. Suceeding.

I worked at HCL Technologies full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Provides Flexible working environment, reasonably flat hierarchy, many options to excel, can get recognised for good work and within customer facing functions can help add value.

    Cons

bit bureaucratic at times as with any other large company. Too many meetings due to layers of management that many a times does not add value. Do not follow the 2 pizza model to make it effective

    Advice to Management

Get the layers of management to work on future vision, create new ideas/execute rather than focusing only on operational reviews. Make these parameters which determine future value creation as their KPI and not revenue/margin alone.

    Pros

Salary higher than average (but bonus only on paper)

    Cons

No balance between HCL performance demand and company tools, instructions, training provided in order to achieve it. Weak sales sign low margin contacts then pressure reflected onto delivery team. Balance between work and life has big room for improvement. Not an ideal place for working.

    Advice to Management

    Invest more on your people

    Disapproves of CEO

I worked at HCL Technologies full-time

    Pros

If your face fits along with your cost to HCL you can make a career working there

    Cons

You have to spend a great deal of time watching your back as there are always people lining up to undermine you irrespective of how senior you are. Policies and processes internally are some of the worst I have experienced. You have too chase every cent when it comes to bonus.

    Advice to Management

Expand your talent pool and don't just promote your friends from Indian B school

    Pros

Lots of oppertunities to learn new technology, lots of global travel prospects

    Cons

Client account structure operates in a silo mode. Holiday entitlement less than some organisations.

    Advice to Management

Try to prevent the political competition between divisions and encourage more collaboration
